Like many kids, I loved computers. Why? They are fun; they take you away from reality. Well they use to. Now they sometimes feel too real to me. It started with a VIC 20, then a Commodore 64, then a Tandy 1000, some knock offs, a Pentium I, II, III, etc. What did I do with them? Really, it was mostly playing games and mess with them. They were a source of entertainment and frustration all wrapped into a nice metal box. But, I loved to tinker with my computers and push them to their limits. My parents "loved" hearing me tell them that the computer was dead, and that I didn't think I could fix it this time.

In my teenage years I found myself spending countless hours on the golf course and neglecting my computer. Good thing computers don't have feelings. In my spare time I would teach golf as I really enjoyed helping others and seeing them succeed. Those of you who play golf know what it feels like to hit that shot that makes you come back for more. I enjoyed being the one who helped my golf students achieve that one shot, and I still do.

Having started my golf career in high school, golf became even more important in my life after I graduated. I went to University and studied International Business Administration while playing Golf for the University team and moonlighting as a golf instructor. My IT career did not start until I was finished University. At that point I was not really interested in Business anymore. It was boring to me. I was interested in computers again. I took some Microsoft and Cisco courses at a local college and got hooked on networking. I was introduced to Cisco equipment in those courses and it fascinated me how everything was linked together and how data was able to get from point A to point B. So of course I became the family go to guy for all computer related problems. When I graduated I joined the SkillSoft team as a mentor. Since I loved to teach and help others and I was fascinated with networking. Mentoring Cisco related topics was a perfect fit for me. Now I am a Cisco Technical Instructor at SkillSoft. I hope to see you in class and help you hit that one shot that makes you come back for more!
