Job Title: Storage and Data Protection engineer
Location: Las Vegas, NV (Onsite from Day-1)

Primary Job Responsibilities :    

  • Looking for an experienced IT engineer to join a team responsible for data protection and associated services within an exponentially growing financial company.
  • The Storage and Data Protection engineer will primarily be responsible for managing multiple data centers, storage arrays and backup products located both on-prem, and cloud-based, in a 24x7 highly-available production environment.
  • The ideal candidate will have expertise in storage software technologies, backup technologies and have hands-on experience in an enterprise data center. Experience with Azure storage and AWS storage also very desirable.

 
Day-to-day responsibilities include:
 

  • Manage and maintain the organization's storage systems which include arrays from different vendors (Hitachi, PURE and EMC)
  • Migrate data effectively and efficiently between storage arrays on an as-needed basis
  • Storage capacity planning
  • Provision sufficient storage to support business requirements
  • Configure and zone SAN-connected fiber storage hosts
  • Manage a Brocade SAN environment
  • Protect the organization's data in multiple sites via on-prem and cloud backup technologies.
  • Take existing data protection concepts such as RPO and RTO and apply to existing and new applications
  • Document application data protection in restore runbooks
  • Communicate with business and other IT groups over data protection needs and application backup windows
  • Research applications and define new storage and retention backup policy taking business needs and application criticality into context e.g. Tier 0, Tier 1 and so on
  • Work with business organization to define Disaster Recovery procedures and processes
  • Write scripts to automate backup and/or storage provisioning (REST)
  • Data center planning and operational control of sites in 3 states as well as AWS and Azure storage
  • Work with out of state Datacenter co-locations to track and rack equipment status
  • Datacenter capacity planning

 
Job Requirements: 

  • 5+ years of experience working in Storage, Backup or enterprise System Administration
  • Should have experience managing enterprise storage over 500TB and 500+ server environments
  • Must be able to work closely within a high-performing team. Good attitude and ability to assist and integrate with other engineers are essential
  • Proficient understanding of and experience with multiple fiber channel storage systems from vendors such as Hitachi, Pure or EMC
  • Experience working in an enterprise environment with knowledge of clustering technologies and high availability strategies.
  • Experience with disk and or tape backup software and recovery concepts
  • Not Required, but Preferred:
  • REST API scripting experience as a means to interface with storage or backup RESTful products.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Physical requirements include:
  • Lifting up to 75Lbs as required, ability to relocate and move servers and network equipment.
  • Data center racking and cabling experience.

 
Education:

  • Bachelors or higher in an engineering discipline, or Technical certification in SAN, Backup software or other related certifications.
