Sr. Network Management Systems & Tools Engineer

Location: 3 locations: RTP, Greensboro, NC or Chicago, IL
Greensboro, NC - When first hired this person will begin in a remote worker capacity until the COVID pandemic subsides and the client deems it safe for workers to return to the office.
Job Description:
Build, maintain, and administer systems and tooling needs to support the network and potentially larger infrastructure organizations. Provide support to network team in the form of system administration on orchestration platforms. Provide automation and scripting capabilities as required by the network teams.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Create and maintain global standard documentation for network management platforms and automation
Perform installation, maintenance and upgrade of NMS tools and corresponding operating systems
Work with networking teams to ensure monitoring and reporting teams are being met
Develop automation to better correlate data and ensure only actionable incidents are created for operations teams to respond to
Participate in on-call rotations
Provide expertise in Linux for troubleshooting networking platforms reliant on it
Excellent communication skills with ability to convey complex topics into layman terms
Basic Qualifications:
3+ years'' experience installing, configuring, and administering multiple network management tools such as SevOne, SolarWinds, Moogsoft, Nagios, Cacti, MRTG, Netcool, OpenView, PagerDuty, xMatters, etc.
Proficient in scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, PERL, BASH
3+ years creating network automation with scripting languages and/or frameworks such as Ansible
2+ years working with code repositories and deployment tools such as GitHub, SubVersion, Jenkins, etc.
Understanding of ITIL and its principles
2+ years working with ServiceNow integrations
5+ years'' experience administering Linux/Unix
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience building API based connections to ServiceNow
* Experience designing, building, and populating a CDMB
* Experience with working with network discovery tools and building visualization of networks
* ITIL certification
* Certification in at least one of the tools referenced under basic qualifications
Start: 4/27/2020
Engagement: 8-month contract to start. Extensions expected.
