Tableau Developer Job Description

  • This job involves tasks such as creating Tableau dashboard reports and attending requirements, testing and feedback sessions. This role involves working with the software from the beginning of a project until completion.

Tableau Developer Duties and Responsibilities

  • Create technical solutions to meet business needs by translating their requirements and creating the application or solution.
  • Create tools to store data effectively within the organization, known as online analytical processing, as well as maintaining data analytics platforms so that data can effectively be mined for information at a later date.
  • Conduct unit tests and develop database queries to analyze the effects and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
  • Collaborating with teams within the business to integrate these new systems to streamline workflow and company processes.
  • Develop and update technical documentation for senior members of staff and colleagues within the IT department to serve as a reference guide.

Tableau Developer Skills and Qualifications

  • Have an aptitude for data mining, are analytical in their approach to tasks, and have a business focus.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or similar, as well as the following abilities:
  • Analytical Skills Needs to analyze the requirements of the business client.
  • Problem-Solving Needs to be able to solve any problems that arise during the development stage and find alternative ways around issues.
  • Innovative This job requires creativity and the ability to create innovative solutions to business problems.
  • Self-motivated - Have the initiative to find solutions and improvements to systems during prototyping and customer testing phases.
  • Detail-Oriented Have strong attention to detail in order to spot inaccuracies in coding or data.
  • Teamwork Be able to work as part of a large team and work towards shared business and department goals.

In addition to general computer applications, have background and strong understanding of:

  • Databases: UDB DB2, IBM DB2, Microsoft Sql server
  • Sql server Management Studio 11.x / 10.x, IBM DB2 UDB Query Manager and SQL Development Kit, Teradata Studio
  • SQL Language (SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS))
  • Data Analysis Tools (Online analytical processing (OLAP), ETL frameworks)
