Job Description :
Role: Sr. VMware Systems Engineer
Location: Elk Grove IL
Contract: 4 months most likely to extend
Must work onsite, no remote interviews allowable

The Sr. VMware Systems Engineer will develop and support the ongoing delivery of cost optimized virtual infrastructure services as part of Client''s Digital Technology portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a deep technical understanding of VMware vSphere (ESXi version 5.x and above) and complimentary technologies (vRealize Suite, vSAN, NSX, etc. As a member of Client''s VMware team, the candidate will need to excel in communication skills (written and verbal), the production and maintenance of concise technical documentation, and the timely execution of tasks assigned individually or as part of a project.

Required Skills:
Experience with VMware: 10+ years with 8 years in a senior technical role (Sr. Engineer, Architect, etc
Strong understanding of VMware vSphere and ESX technologies: vRA, vRO, vROPS, Distributed Switches
Strong knowledge of scripting (ex. PowerCLI, JavaScript, Python, etc
Solid understanding of virtual and physical network, storage, and security concepts and practices
Understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems and command line operations
Working knowledge of data center management concepts and practices
Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
Must have the ability to develop quantitative, prioritized action plans to mitigate risk
Must have experience in the development of processes, procedures, and standards
Solid team player with a "can do” attitude
Flexible schedule - must be available to work non-standard business hours as needed including weekends
On call - Must be available via cell phone for issue resolution and assistance after hours.

Desired Skills:
Bachelor''s degree in Computer Science or related discipline
VCP 5.x or above
Certifications or advanced experience with Linux (RHEL, OEL), Windows (Win2K8 and above), networking, and storage (SAN, NAS)
