Title: Oracle PL/SQL Developer
Location: Austin, Texas 78754
Duration: 6 months with possible extension

Job Description:
The DFPS IT Resource Management (IT Division) program, via the DIR ITSAC Best Value Process, isseeking one or more Programmer/Developers, hereafter referred to as Workers, who meet the general qualifications of the DIR ITSAC Programmer/Developer 2, Core Technology, to assist the IT Ops work unit’s Batch Team in completing its Batch modernization project involving COBOL to Java conversion. Most of the work has been completed via a conversion tool process but additional coding conversion is required to finish the project. The workers will work closely with other Batch Team developers and the Batch Team manager on the work to be completed.

Work involves the following
-Create requirements from a set of COBOL compiled listings with enough detail so that a PL/SQL programmer can read the requirement and create a PL/SQL program with the same functionality by coding directly from the requirement document.
-Code PL/SQL programs to DFPS best practices using detailed requirements documents.
-Modify existing Korn Shell scripts to execute the PL/SQL programs by replacing the script syntax that currently runs the existing Java/COBOL with syntax to run PL/SQL.
-Test the new PL/SQL code in a UNIX environment using the modified shell scripts.

Requirements:
The workers must have a strong application development background with extensive experience in the following:
-Solid understanding of Oracle PL/SQL.
-Solid understanding of COBOL.
-UNIX development environment experience.
-Korn Shell scripting experience.
-Ability to adhere to software development processes and standards.
-Skill in preparing detailed documentation.
-Ability to generate accurate work estimates in an SDLC environment.
