[Now] predicts tech contract jobs to open up in Q3 2010

20% Increase in demand for IT consultants during Q2 2010 compared to Q2 2009. Data Warehousing and Java are hot skills in demand.

Ashburn, VA, September 14, 2010: The contract job market in the IT sector is improving with more number of jobs being generated in all the major cities across the country, the Quarterly IT Consulting Report brought out by

Mr. Prabakaran Murugaiah, CEO, [Now] says, “Current trend shows there will be stronger growth and more jobs will be created in the tech sector shortly. The worst is past, compared to other sectors the unemployment in tech sector is comparatively low always, so choosing the career in the science and technology will be rewarding one in terms of stable employment.”

According to the report the top 10 states to find technology jobs are California (CA), New Jersey (NJ), Texas (TX), New York (NY), Illinois (IL), Pennsylvania (PA), Virginia (VA), Massachusetts (MA), Georgia (GA), and North Carolina (NC).

According to Murugaiah, there is going to be an increased demand for various skill sets in technology consulting. The report shows that there will be a need for qualified persons in all technologies rather than one specific technology. The highest demand, at 25 percent will be for people qualified in Java and Dot Net platforms. At the same time, the top 10 skills where demand is increasing are Data Warehousing/ETL, Java, J2EE, QA / Testing, Siebel, Dot NET, VB, ASP, C#, Reporting Tools, Project Management, SAP, DBAs, Oracle Apps.

Murugaiah also suggested that the recovery in tech sector will be generally in sync with that of the economic recovery globally. However, he added that the tech sector will get a disproportionate advantage due to the primacy of this segment and also the effort by global companies to focus on costs as a competitive advantage. This, according to him, will lead to demand creation for the tech jobs.
