JOB DESCRIPTION

Federate Systems is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to provide Engineering and O&M support for one of our federal clients in Washington, DC. This is a contracting position till 09/24/2018 with a possible extension for one to two years. The Network Engineer provides Network expertise for all data centers, Networking and/or Network services. This position will be and individual contributor working with a team of technical resources, including assessment, design, and technical planning. This role also proactively develops technical relationships at all levels of planning, design, and scheduling for any data centers or “services” within a data center. This position is primarily focused on a Network Engineer and Operations and Maintenance candidate that will support all aspects of Data Center initiatives. Prior work with the Splunk tool is a plus.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The selected candidate will participate in all IT related Infrastructure Network Engineering projects as listed but not limited to:

Networks, Network Security, Splunk and SolarWinds monitoring tools, Unified Communications technologies; VoIP, VTC Wireless, and Disaster Recovery. Hands on experience with Cisco Nexus routers, switches and NetScalers maintaining the production and DR Data Centers. Additional project support for Data Center relocations and migrations planning and execution, integration and optimization planning and execution. Additional support roles include; Network monitoring, troubleshooting and problem resolution, following set processes in regards to change and configuration management. The candidate will support various data center sites and Networks to include but not limited to:

Accompanied by the program manager or designee present the strategy and approach to senior leadership for constructive collaborations.
Review and perform technical assessment for given data centers or services in a data center
Develop design and final design documents and obtain the ERB/PRB approval, when necessary.
Participate in the development of Bill of Materials (BOM) when required
At times assists the Project Scheduler to develop and maintain the project schedules for technical activities related to architecture and design.
Works well independently and as a team member
Escalates to the senior manager or designee for any roadblocks or challenges.
Any other related request from the program manager or designee.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

An IT or related degree at a BS level (minimum requirement) from an accredited college or university is desired. Years of experience may be considered a substitute for a degree.
7 to 10+ years of data center operations and engineering experience with a focus on Network Engineering, Operations and Security.
Cisco certifications desired (CCNA, CCNP, CCIE)
Candidate must have demonstrated experience in Data Center Engineering, O&M, and Network Security.
Must have the ability to thoroughly understand the DOL Common Operation environment (COE) and network security zones.
Demonstrated past experience with Data Centers, network and virtualization/storage technology is a must.
Ensure the quality and timeliness of the operational and engineering related deliverables, such as preliminary design, final design, bill of materials, and implementation approach.
Have a broad technical experience and skills covering data center, network, virtualization, storage, security, and applications relative to data center initiatives.
Hands-on experience in data centers with a focus on Cisco Nexus, NetScaler, NetApp, HP, etc technology to include telephony, including the willingness to support the physical layer installations in the data center (equipment installations and cabling runs
Knowledge or prior experience with SolarWinds, Splunk experience is a plus
Excellent written and communication skills
