The other is someone with strong development background who can be trained in devops.
Non negotiable:
- Experience with Linux. Has basic system administration skills (is network port in use, how to find files etc)
- Has a development background and is not afraid to pick up new skills
- Has experience beyond writing code in the IDE. Should be able to talk about service containers and/or dependencies and/or certificates and/or log files. Something beyond “I write the code and then itssome one else''s problem to run it in production”.
Desirable/bonus points:
- Has Java experience and has worked as a java developer.
- Has familiarity with maven and gradle. Extra bonus points for writing a gradle plugin.
- Has golang experience
- Has scripting experience
- Has used Docker/K8s/Cloud
Tools: AWS and Kubernates, DevOps tools (GIT, Jenkins, Docker, Ansibleetc) , Java experience
Roles and Responsibilities
Automate deployment, monitoring, management and incident response
Scale infrastructure to meet rapidly increasing demand using AWS
Collaborate with developers to bring new features and services into production
Develop and improve operational practices and procedures
Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies, preferably Docker/Kubernates
Proficient with at least one scripting language (Bash, Perl, Python
Experience with Java applications and related J2EE technology stack
Release automation (Jenkins, etc), system administration, system configuration, and system debugging experience
