Job Purpose
The Client Platform Engineer is responsible for the technical direction of large projects involving a multi-tiered, highly available client infrastructure that is geographically distributed among a highly mobile workforce as well as the client device platforms and their associated components, processes, and procedures. The Client Platform Engineer is involved in implementing, in varying capacities, a range of client and virtualization products. Additionally, the Client Platform Engineer is responsible for deploying and maintaining products that are necessary to support a client software and hardware environment.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
· Excellent skills in managing and maintaining end user service
· Strong hands one experience on VMware horizon view and vSphere
· Strong hands-on experience on upgradation/migration on VMware and VMware horizon view
· In-depth experience in hardware image development and support for Windows and Mac based machines and operating systems.
· Expert experience and understanding of Microsoft products and integration across associated components (Teams, Sharepoint, Exchange, OneDrive, etc)
· Expert experience administering app and profile deployments using Mobile Device Management systems (EndPoint Manager, AirWatch, etc)
· Installs, tests, evaluates and integrates various applications and third-party products into the client architecture, as well as various related and unrelated subsystems.
· Conducts and coordinates the analysis, planning and implementation of client systems software.
· Identifies and resolves moderately complex systems problems.
· Ensures that platform patch management is kept current.
· Creates, manages and deploys Active Directory Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and associated custom GPO templates for the virtual environment.
· Follows and enforces organizational IT security policies and processes, including change management processes.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
· Ability to serve as the primary engineer for the client software and hardware environment
· Strong knowledge of Windows, and Mac operating systems
· Ability to make recommendations regarding the client architecture, and articulate the value that new products would bring to clients
· Knowledge of industry standards; available technologies; and security and system best practices
· Ability to understand and resolve network system issues
· Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Windows operating systems
· Basic knowledge of system administration script programming with Visual Basic Scripting and Batch scripts
· Basic knowledge of system administration script programming with PowerShell preferred
· Basic Desktop/Laptop hardware and technology knowledge
· Knowledge of file system management (NTFS, Fat32)
Education and Experience Required
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
· 5-8 years of experience with Microsoft Windows environments
· 5-8 years of experience with client virtualization environments
· Experience with the following platforms and systems is beneficial; Horizon View, VMware vSphere, BMC Client Management
