DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES:
The Texas Railroad Commission ITS division requires the services of one experienced WebLogic/Linux Systems Administrator to provide technical support for daily operations and to administer agency application server software and hardware systems and supporting infrastructure for the Infrastructure & Operations section of the Information Technology Services (ITS) Division of the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC). Perform or coordinate day-to-day system administration functions such as server configuration, break/fix, user support, and backups. Work with DIR datacenter vendor (ATOS) to administer WebLogic, UNIX (Solaris) and LINUX (SuSE/Redhat); perform or coordinate routine system administration functions including: OS installs and updates, performance monitoring, security monitoring, and maintenance.
This role will provide support for creation and management of development, test and production environments and maintains change management between the different environments. Will assist with the building and deployment of Java application software in development, test and production environments and the support of software deployment and management tools. Evaluate, recommend, plan, implement, and document enhancements to agency computer systems and processes. Monitor critical network and system events. Assist with the administration and management of network security. Maintain compliance with current security standards and policies. Make recommendations for updates as needed
CANDIDATE SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Requirements:
Years Required/Preferred Experience
6 Required IT System Administration work experience
6 Required Experience with WebLogic 10x to 12C to include installation, configuration and monitoring as well as extensive working experience on clustering, performance tuning, load balancing, connection pools.
6 Required Experience with UNIX/Linux; Experience with Apache servers
5 Required Experience in using UNIX scripting, WLST scripts and automation
4 Required Experience with Microsoft Windows; Experience with Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise (OBIEE); Experience with Real User Experience Insight (RUEI)
4 Required Experience with scheduling, testing, installing, and implementing programs; and in troubleshooting computer systems; Knowledge of basic computer networking
4 Required Knowledge of Intel computer hardware and software, running Windows and UIX/Linux Operating systems in a virtualized environment
4 Required Experience with Microsoft Windows; Experience with Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise (OBIEE)
4 Required Experience with Real User Experience Insight (RUEI); Knowledge of basic computer networking
4 Required Experience with scheduling, testing, installing, and implementing programs; and in troubleshooting computer systems
4 Required Knowledge of Intel computer hardware and software, running Windows and UIX/Linux Operating systems in a virtualized environment
3 Preferred Experience with legacy modernization efforts
3 Preferred Experience in applying critical/security fix patches on WebLogic and assisting with OS patches
1 Preferred Linux certification (RHCT, RHCE, RHCSA and LPIC)
