Description:
We are looking for a Front-End Web Designer/Developer who is motivated to combine the art of design with the art of programming. This developer works well as a member of a multi-disciplinary team communicating with Project Managers, Analysts, Back-End Developers, QA, and business users. Additionally, the Front-End Designer/Developer maintains awareness and skill in emerging trends and technologies bringing new ideas and possibilities to the project team.
Responsibilities:
- Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers, stakeholders, and development team
- Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows and sitemaps
- Create user flows, wireframes, prototypes, and mockups on tight timelines
- Design graphic user interface elements, like menus, input controls, navigational components, and informational components
- Build page navigation buttons and search fields
- Develop functional and appealing web- and mobile-based applications based on web accessibility standards and usability
- Build for cross-browser, cross-platform, and cross-device compatibility
- Build fully responsive websites/applications
- Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches and tables)
- Prepare and present rough drafts to internal teams and key stakeholders
- Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness)
- Incorporate customer feedback, usage metrics, and usability findings into design to enhance user experience
- Translate requirements into style guides, design systems, design patterns and attractive user interfaces
- Adhere to style standards on fonts, colors and images
- Promote usability best practices
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- 4-6 years of experience as an UI-UX Designer or similar role with hands-on experience in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and jQuery
- 3+ years of experience with Front-end frameworks like Bootstrap or Foundation
- 2+ years of development experience with at least one of the JavaScript UI frameworks like Angular, Ember, React, etc.
- Basic understanding of back-end programming architecture and technologies
- Experience designing and developing responsive and mobile friendly web applications
- Hands-on experience with graphic design tools (Illustrator, Photoshop) and proficiency in prototyping tools such as A e XD etc.
- Experience building standards/guides to maintain consistency in brand and design
- Experience with developing accessible interfaces for people with disabilities
- Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them
- Ability to write high-performance, reusable code for UI components
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including ability to discuss and explain design options
- Detail oriented with a keen eye for aesthetics
- This contract will be based on a 37.5-hour work week and when added up on a yearly basis, 48 weeks a year (i.e. the contractor is expected to take all state holidays, 10 sick/vacation days unpaid). Candidates must clearly be informed of this information.
