Job Description :

SCOPE OF SERVICES:

The UX Designer will work with other City and vendor Service Designers, UX Designers, the Product Manager, and Software Developers to build compelling user interfaces and experiences that are based on user research and service design research, which a based on a shared design system, and which are practical for implementation in code. Designs created should be mobile responsive, standards compliant, allow for multiple languages (including RTL), and follow best practices for modern design.

MANDATORY SKILLS:

  • 4 years of experience in UX design (or related fields) during which time candidate had demonstrated experience independently creating compelling UX designs, using and/or creating design systems, and conducting design crits of other designers’ work
  • Expert knowledge of user experience methods
  • Expert knowledge of content publishing systems 
  • Expert knowledge of interaction design methods and systems
  • Knowledge of agile ways of working and modern software development practices
  • Knowledge of modern tools and platforms for designing and publishing content and optimizing interaction
  • Expert-level skill in UX software including Figma
  • Nuanced understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility in the context of digital service design
  • A portfolio demonstrating a range of user-centered products 
  • Relentless focus on the user, able to translate user feedback to content and interaction needs and user stories
  • Ability to influence at the most senior levels in an organization, communicating the value of user experience across our services and channels
  • Ability to think strategically, mapping organizational needs to user experience, content and interaction design
  • Ability to prototype in a range of tools
  • Ability to run a community of practice, develop people and set strong consistent standards
  • Ability to develop user-focused content and interaction across multiple services and channels to create a seamless user experience
  • Ability to translate business language to plain English, bridging the gap between a corporate service need and a user need
  • Ability to build relationships across the organization at all levels, especially with policymakers and service owners
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to make complex languages and processes easy to understand
  • Skilled in providing feedback to and mentoring other to make sure they’re delivering quality work
  • Ability to coach teams in agile ways of working
  • Experience pairing with other disciplines to create amazing user experiences in digital and non-digital services
  • Experience using analytics, user feedback, and user research to evaluate and improve user experience.
  • Experience creating clear content and interaction across multiple services and channels concurrently, working between product teams with the ability to prioritize
  • Experience of line management and developing people
  • Experience coaching and mentoring
  • Experience leading a community of practice
  • Desire to take an active role in the cross-government digital community
  • Experience writing user experience, content and interaction strategy and designing user experience architecture

 

DESIRABLE SKILLS:

  • Expertise in Figma
  • Ability to plan, conduct, and synthesize user research
  • Ability to build interactive prototypes as clickable designs or in code
