Job Description:
NC DHHS is seeking a highly motivated technical specialist with analytical skills to complete code migration from a Sybase IQ data structure to an Oracle data structure to support federal TANF Program reporting.
The NC DHHS Application Portfolio Management Office (APMO) Client Services Data Warehouse (CSDW) UNIX Developer will provide advanced architect (lead technical expert) support and requires experience in systems development tools and techniques. The UNIX Developer will utilize both business process and information technology (IT) background to analyze business processes and determine automation conversion activities. The individual will be a key player to support TANF code migration from Sybase to Oracle.
The UNIX Developer will work with existing CSDW staff to support the completion of code migration from Sybase to Oracle. Duties include:
• Collaborate with CSDW staff on supporting and completing the migration to Oracle. Aid in tracking conversion activities, system updates and conversion of existing Unix scripts.
• Support process owners for TANF related issues and monitor project progress. Assess and trouble-shoot converted scripts during testing and validation.
• Complete regular process reviews with CSDW team members on changes needed to existing processes.
• Support conversion of existing TANF scripts within set controls and meeting all the compliance requirements.
• Support implementation of best practices and other improvement initiatives with the goal of continuous improvement.
• Support the CSDW team on any other TANF project related deliverables.
The UNIX Developer should have the following qualifications:
• Understand the concepts, best practices, and functions to support a data warehouse driven reporting solution.
• Have strong experience with Unix scripting.
• Have strong Oracle and Sybase SQL/PL SQL skills.
• Base SAS is preferred but not required.
• Have an IT background with a well-rounded understanding of all aspects of business process with analytical and proactive problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mind-set.
• Be a Team Player, enthusiastic to understand complex business processes and perform under pressure.
• Proven ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and fast pace environment.
• Detail oriented and ability to learn and work independently as well as in a team environment.
