Role: Tech Writer
Location: Downtown Dallas
Duration: 6 months++

Interview: In-Person Required ( Possibly one and done on interview) Local to Dallas Please.


Key Accountabilities & Duties
Ability to understand and speak technicalese.
Ability to take complicated, technical things and translate into an easy-to-understand ways
Exhibit patience in problem solving
Don’t shy away from asking the "dumb technical questions" to gain a better understanding
Facilitate stakeholders through review of new procedures to gain agreement on the required process and procedure changes required to ensure a smooth and successful implementation and adoption
Research technical concepts and jargon to gain a better understanding
Develop documents to maintain an effective set of policies and procedures consistent with technology guidelines.
Interface with management and employees to determine appropriate policy, procedure, and requirements.
Perform review of current/past documentation to identify gaps.
Remain current on policies and procedures within various technology areas.
Review, revise and proof-read policies, procedures and guidelines that are developed internally for accuracy, clarity and consistency with language and format, consistent with other documents
Utilize a variety of media forms; include images and charts to elaborate on or complement technical writing
Organizes content to ensure information is easily accessible
Establish a standard for versioning and retention
Maintain inventory, utilizing a schedule for review of policies, procedures and guidelines
Occupational Experience & Education Requirements
University or college degree or equivalent work experience.
Minimum 3 - 5 years of similar work experience.
Demonstrated ability to write clearly, concisely and accurately
Experience with technical and business expertise in documenting policies and procedures.
Experience in form creation using a variety of applications that may include graphic design elements
Experience in developing internal communications in support of the new launch of amended policies and procedures
Experience with MS Office Suite, including Word and Excel, PPT, SharePoint.
Experience communicating effectively, verbally, and in writing, with people at all levels of an organization.
Experience in working directly or indirectly with technical and business teams.
Experience with planning for and leading group facilitation sessions.
Utility experience is an asset.
Project management experience an asset.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
Knowledge of various technology environments to ensure new policies, changes to policies, and maintenance of policies are consistent with each other.
Knowledge of regulatory laws specific to utilities.
Knowledge of Cyber Security, Compliance and Infrastructure operations.
Ability to take complex or multi-stepped procedures and prepare in a simple, clear, and easily digested format.
Experience facilitating teams to shared understanding and/or agreement
Ability to anticipate potential situations or questions at every level in response to a new policy or procedure.
Ability to manage updates/revisions to ensure accuracy and relevance.
Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
Able to work as a team member, as well as independently.
Able to handle highly confidential/sensitive information.
