Position Description:
50-week contract opportunity for a Senior Network Engineer to work in the Austin, TX area. This position is to be an onsite staff augmentation, fully participating in 3 major network expansion projects. The work will primarily consist of installation and configuration of Extreme networking hardware: VSP7000, VSP8000, ERS4950, and Universal Switching 5000 series switches. The candidate must have a strong understanding of both Layer 2 switching and Layer 3 routing. Familiarity with and ability to troubleshoot protocols such as SPB, OSPF, SMLT, and VRRP desired. The successful candidate will also be able to work with application vendors to understand their networking requirements and implement those requirements in the environment.
Responsibilities:
- Be responsible for installations and configurations and create customer facing High-Level Designs and detailed Low-Level Designs.
- Be the networking technical lead
- Primarily working with Extreme VSP routing switches and ERS switches.
- Be responsible for IP/VLAN assignment and Extreme networking hardware configuration.
- Familiarity and skill working on critical healthcare networks
Job Requirements:
- 5-10 years of experience in a field support, professional services or a technical support role
- Heavy experience with Extreme VSP routing switches and edge switching
- Ability to generate logical IP addressing schemes and VLANs to implement as part of network design and project execution.
- Strong knowledge of Layer 2 switching and Layer 3 routing
- Strong knowledge of troubleshooting SPB, OSPF, SMLT, VRRP, etc.
- Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Strong customer communication skills
- Ability to work in fast paced, dynamic environment
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously with minimal supervision

- Ability to learn and effectively utilize customer support tools/resources
