Job Title: RF Engineer (Antenna Engineer)
Job Location: Las Cruces, NM 88012 US (Primary)
Job type: Full-Time
Key Duties
  • Administer the SN RF Safety program, including:
  • Performing and reporting on annual RF surveys
  • Developing and presenting RF Safety training to SN personnel
  • Performing the RF safety evaluation for new antenna systems
  • Coordinate periodic geodetic surveys of SN antennas.
  • Provide sustaining engineering support for all SN antenna systems.
  • Develop and evaluate system requirements.
  • Perform communications analyses, including link budget assessments.
  • Develop engineering documentation for the installation of new and/or modification of existing electronic systems that meet defined requirements.
  • Ensure that technical, budget, and schedule requirements are met through new or modified designs.
  • Oversee system modifications to ensure implementation is executed according to design documentation.
  • Develop and execute test plans and procedures.
  • Maintain system documentation to accurately reflect the configuration baseline.
  • Provide troubleshooting assistance in isolating and correcting unusual system problems.
 
Required Skills, Experience, and Education
  • Employees are required to follow federal, state, and local laws regarding COVID-19 practices, as well as customer requirements.
  • Active Secret clearance.
  • 2 or more years of experience in the following areas:
  • Sustaining engineering support of satellite earth station antenna systems
  • Antenna systems performance testing including G/T, EIRP, VSWR
  • Troubleshooting and repair of satellite earth station antenna systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Mathematics, or Engineering.
 
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education
  • 5 or more years of related experience.
  • Experience with RF Safety Testing.
  • Possess an understanding of RF satellite communications systems parameters and their impact on RF link performance.
  • Experience with RF wireless communications systems requirements definition and analysis, including link analysis.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of the NASA Space Network.
  • Familiarity with NASA, DoD, or other agency systems engineering processes.
