Location: Remote
Duration: 1.5 years Contract



- Has completed multiple large scale (+$10M each) data migration projects, preferably at least one project that was from Teradata to Snowflake.
- Has completed his/her most recent data warehouse migration recently (in the last 12 months)
- If they have worked in the insurance industry that would be beneficial
- Has a modest data technology capability
o Comfortable with basic SQL queries on Data Warehouse or Data Lake platforms
o working knowledge of ETL and CDC data integration tools
o working knowledge of some BI tools
- Not interested if engaged in lots of smaller projects and/or training of teams about Agile or PM capabilities
- Not interested if most of their work has been managing application development teams
- Not interested if he/she performed a small data migration for a standalone DB or filesystem

Senior Project Manager for multi-million dollar Data Warehouse migration project. Position will be work from home or contractor''s office as Liberty offices are closed. Candidate must sit in EST or CST (preferred Position is slated to be 1.5 years but will evaluate at the end of the year.

Must haves:
Experience in the insurance industry
Experience with data warehouse platforms (Snowflake and/or Teradata)
Experience with data ingestion tools (Informatica and/or GoldenGate)
Exposure to Business Intelligence tools (PowerBI, MicroStrategy, SAS)
Experience leading a large 10M+) scale data migration projects (lead PM or scrum master)
Must be a certified PMP
Must have 10+ years of experience

Senior Project Manager for Data Warehouse Migration

The Data Analytics and Engineering (DAE) organization of Liberty Mutual Global Retail Marketing has created a Workstream that is undertaking a migration of the existing heterogeneous data warehouses into a single cloud-based instance. We are seeking a very experienced Senior Project Manager (SPM) to orchestrate and assist with the collaboration and planning across the US GRM IT Community in concert with our migration contractor for this very large project. The SPM will report directly to the Workstream leaders and participate in meetings with upper level management.

The SPM is responsible for tracking the progress of, and recommending refinements to, the Migration Contractor’s Project Plan (MCPP To achieve this the SPM will work closely with the contractor’s Project Management Office (PMO In addition, SPM will be responsible to collaborate with and act as liaison between the contractor’s PMO, enabling the SPM to build, maintain and monitor progress of the DAE organization’s Supporting Project Plan (SPP The DAE organization’s SPP will align with and support the tasks within the MCPP, ensuring the DAE tasks are well defined, assigned and tracked to avoid delays to the overall project deliverables. The SPM will design the DAE SPP milestones in concert with the Workstream leaders and the milestones present in the MCPP. The SPM will track success markers for each milestone. The SPM will collaborate with Scrum Masters from neighboring DAE Workstreams to communicate the SPP and the commensurate impact upon Workstream resources from across DAE’s Agile squads. The SPM will help ensure the project remains on time and on budget and help motivate team members to achieve the milestones.

An ideal Senior Project Manager (SPM) is an analytical and organized thinker who is not intimidated by roadblocks and challenges. The incumbent understands how to successfully evaluate problems and develop appropriate solutions. The SPM performs well under pressure, possessing great focus while efficiently overseeing a complex project. The SPM should be able to influence, and be open to suggestions from, members of the migration team. The SPM should represent the interests of Workstream leaders, Data Office and DAE. The SPM will need to be able to work on multiple aspects of the project at a time, with the ability to quickly understand and advise about new challenges as they arise. The SPM should have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Below are the skills and abilities that DAE will look for in a SPM.

What you will do:
Plan actions and tasks with the:
o Migration Workstream Leads
o US GRM IT Community, especially DAE and IT Hosting
o Data Office Project Manager for Migration Workstream
o Contractor’s PMO
o Contractor and DAE architects
o DAE Scrum Masters
Track overall project progress and provide updates to:
o Migration Workstream Leads
o DAE and Data Office leadership
Prepare, publish and maintain a comprehensive SPP. Ensure coordination of activities between SPP and MCPP.
Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short- and long-term goals
Participate in quarterly Agile planning for DAE squads
Assist DAE financial with monitoring budgetary objectives for this project and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis
Assist with targeted and/or broadcast communications to stakeholders
Participate in project governance procedures and policy management
