Job Title: Linux Engineer
Duration: 6+ month contract
Location: Bolingbrook, IL or Remote

Strategic Staffing Solutions (S3) seeks a Linux Engineer for a 6+ month contract at one of our top Fortune 500 companies. This position requires that the selected candidate be in Bolingbrook, IL or Remote
Responsibilities:
Assist with creation of technical design/implementation documentation.
Participate in current state system analysis, requirements gathering, and documentation.
May work with other Engineers and Architects in infrastructure design and
Responsible for supporting project teams in the analysis of business, application, and technical infrastructure requirements.
Installs, configures, and maintains Linux operating systems.
Analyzes and resolves problems associated with the Linux operating system's servers, hardware, applications, and software.
Monitors systems performance and ensures compliance with security standards.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within *NIX, especially Red Hat Enterprise Linux Versions.
Support the design, build, enhancement, and integration of infrastructure required to support the business portfolio or infrastructure platform in terms of robustness, scalability, availability, and efficiency.
Support initiatives that deliver workable end-to-end infrastructure solutions that adhere to standards.
Support and perform stress testing of ecommerce / Business applications
Understand and articulate the platform product roadmap.
Assist with configuration and implementation deployments.
Troubleshoot infrastructure compatibility issues based on system architecture, project requirements, customer expectations, etc.
Support requirements understanding and issue resolution throughout the project life cycle.
Participate in test planning and execution.
May work with project teams to prepare components for production.
Escalate, provide feedback, and propose changes to infrastructure specifications.
Individual should be comfortable working with minimal direction for extended periods, as well as assisting other team members to accomplish project success.
Assignments may vary from well-defined, long term projects to ad-hoc work requests urgent to business success.
Support majority of performance testing
Develop and execute stress tests and specific diagnostics for testing reliability and identifying potential vulnerabilities
Develop and enhance existing utilities and tools for performance measurement and analysis
Analyze load tests using a variety of load testing tools (e.g. HP LoadRunner, SOASTA), statistics and analysis techniques
Qualifications:
Typically holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field (or has equivalent work experience
Certification(s) is a plus (i.e. MCSE, CCNA, VMWare
Minimum of 3+ years of E-Commence server operation experiences.
Prefer experience with systems analysis/programming, incorporating:
Design methodology.
A variety of software languages, operating systems, or network protocols.
An understanding of industry trends and tools.
Prefer specific technical knowledge in one or more of the following areas: Unix, Linux, JBoss, Apache, etc.
Basic knowledge of one or more of the following:
o Infrastructure/server principles and concepts.
o Application infrastructure and standards.
o Networking fundamentals.
o Storage management (i.e. SAN), design and support.
o Databases (i.e. SQL Server, Oracle, etc.
o Middleware technologies (i.e. JBoss, WebLogic, )
Ability to translate technical issues into understandable business language for end users.
Requires excellent problem-solving skills.
Must be comfortable working on Linux and be familiar with monitoring tools such as top, vmstat, sar and be able to analyze process and file management
Must be able to write scripts in a shell, perl, python, or JavaScript programming language
Possess a basic understanding of Oracle RAC, SQL tuning, and OLTP concepts
Experience with a variety of system monitoring applications. (e.g. Sumologic, dynaTrace)
Excellent communication skills; feels comfortable working patiently with non-technical business partners
Able to solve complex problems efficiently and with minimal assistance
Strong Docker experience in building and Monitoring of Docker containers.
