GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Work effectively and collaboratively with Web Systems colleagues on assigned projects and activities.
Follow House Information Resources (HIR) Agile SCRUM Methodologies processes and best practices.
Maintain professional relationships with customers, management, colleagues and deliver high-quality customer service.


SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide guidance to personnel responsible for specifications, designs, project implementation and development of technology to ensure compliance with accessibility statues and guidance.
Provide policy and process support to the entire project team to develop, maintain, and improve our compliance with these guidelines.
Investigate/research issues, determine impact, and provide solutions for improving accessibility for compliance. Communicate complex and/or technical information to a broad range of audiences.
Conduct web accessibility testing to include: Semi-automated scans, manual reviews, keyboard only, and screen reader testing.
Assess, analyze, and identify areas of concern for accessibility non-compliance of products as well as manage and resolve specific accessibility defects to resolution.
Support the Agile SCRUM team in analysis of business requirements and non-functional requirements to identify user story acceptance test criteria for accessibility compliance.
Develop compliance checklists, plans, and remediation actions as well as provide advice on mitigating or resolving issues. Participate in meetings as required.
Conduct test in mobile environments using mobile accessibility tools.
Test web products to assess accessibility using a range of screen reader assistive software, e.g. JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver on iPhone, Talkback on Android.
Conduct color sampling, and screen reader testing (using JAWS or similar tool
Identify, record, and help manage accessibility defects to resolution using JIRA.
Develop and deliver training programs through briefings and reference guides to train internal House staff in accessibility compliance best practices.
Provide status reports and automated compliance reports.
Other project management and contract-related functions as needed.
Execute and document tests to compare results with requirements, to identify defects, and to ensure compliance (e.g., systems, functionality, etc
Adept at explaining Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 and 2.1 to technical and business stakeholders and providing design recommendations to delivery teams to minimized accessibility issues


SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology, Computer Science, MIS, or related discipline, or equivalent related experience
5+ years in Information Technology and software Quality Assurance focused on Section 508 Compliance and Accessibility.
Detailed knowledge of American's with Disabilities Act (ADA) technical requirements including WCAG 2.0,2.1 AA, ARIA standards, and others;
Strong experience in understanding and using assistive technology tools like screen reader software, screen magnification software, or voice recognition software to verify applications are conformant;
Extensive experience using common accessibility testing tools as well as screen readers such as JAWS, NVDA, Talkback or Voiceover.
Experience with web and native mobile accessibility.
Knowledge of HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, iOS, and Android development and accessibility features;
Some debugging skills, able to convey and explain bug causes and a11y concepts to non a11y subject matter experts using minimal step reproduction cases.
Assess quality of new features or new systems against Customer Experience, User Experience, and Accessibility.
Attention to detail with strong knowledge of planning and organizing test plans and test cases.
Working knowledge of testing methodologies, automation tools and best practice.
Adept at multi-tasking in a fast-paced, high-profile environment.
Ability to evolve skill sets and quickly adapt to new technologies and priorities.
Equally comfortable working on a project team as well as independently.
