Candidates should have a mix of Project Management and Scrum Master skills. This group isn't fully Agile so the scrum master will get a lot of pushback and will need to have thick skin. Candidates need to be able to discuss previous projects in detail and discuss any accomplishments achieved (did they finish early/come in under budget, etc.).
Candidates must be Scrum Master certified, have a degree and should have both Project Management and Scrum Master experience; all with applications development projects and if folks have led 2+ scrum teams, that is an added bonus!
Job Description:
Project Manager/Scrum Master will provide effective collaboration, facilitation, leadership and coaching skills supporting the agile development process and delivery of applications. You will be responsible for enforcing the agile tenants as interpreted by the team, removing impediments and promoting transparency. This position requires commitment to exceptional results, a strong desire for continuous improvement, and the ability to build a collaborative culture within the team. You will facilitate daily stand-ups and ensure the integrity of the agile process by capturing velocity and removing obstacles to drive projects to successful release. In this highly visible role, you will have significant interaction with product owners and regular contact with senior management.
Candidates will start as a contractor and will have the opportunity of possibly converting to perm in the future. In addition, this is a remote opportunity now, but once things start to open and we are through the pandemic, candidates may need to go onsite from time to time in Philadelphia, PA.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Organize and facilitate daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos and other Scrum-related meetings.
Work collaboratively with Product Owners, cross-functional development teams, and Project Managers to support development and software delivery.
Assist the Product Owner in user story creation/prioritization and product Backlog grooming via emergent requirement elicitation while supporting overall organizational goals.
Track and report Scrum team velocity and manage Sprint capacity.
Ensure development team is working efficiently towards Sprint goals.
Coach the development team and stakeholders on how to use Agile/Scrum practices.
Ensure the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility.
Ensure cross functional coordination (analysts, developers and testers) is occurring early and often. Recommend improvements and assist in changes to best practice.
Adapt approach based on cultural shifts and regulatory requirements.
Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information. Create an environment that empowers and energizes team members, with a focus on accountability, adaptability, and collaboration.
Required
5+ years of Project Management experience and 3+ years working in an Agile environment
Strong experience in guiding transition from waterfall to agile projects and some agile coaching experience
Experience working with an agile methodology on large scale, applications development/technically complex projects
Experience running multiple scrum teams preferably in BI/Data related projects
Excellent team player with the ability to influence and negotiate and understand/communicate technical issues
Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Information Systems, BI or Analytics or Engineering or equivalent work experience
Experience with Jira
Background Check and Drug Test required
Scrum Master certification
