Job Title: Project Manager / Pre-Sales Resource
Job Type: Fulltime
Job Location: Ashburn, VA (For remote candidates Detroit is preferred)
Job Purpose:
  • Leads and drives the project team, consisting of representatives from Development, Test and Support, as part of a larger Program, to deliver projects from requirements to completion and testing of all features.
  • Attends customers and/or partners being single technical contact person for all further development and support topics.
  • Acts as technical Presales' supporting Sales in gaining new customers and partners or enlarging existing TS business.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Arrange a project kick-off meeting for the project team to explain the purpose and scope of the project/feature and gain commitment on agreed objectives.
  • Determine clear project/feature requirements by questioning customer/partner and TS Product Management, with support from Release Owner und Development Managers.
  • Discuss requirements with customer/partner and the project team and actively question and negotiate to determine resources, timescales and cost of delivery.
  • Supported by Release Owner and Development Managers, use estimations of effort to negotiate with Roadmap Management on functionality, resource requirements and schedules to ensure that the product developed meets the time, cost, and quality requirements of the customer and the company.
  • Use the individual plans and schedules from project team members and customer/partner to create an overall project plan and schedule with specific objectives, owners, structures and controls to deliver the project against the high-level requirements and milestones set by Program Manager, questioning stakeholders to ensure the plan is aggressive but achievable.
  • Use knowledge of project management tools and techniques to establish clear milestones that are understood by all and clearly demonstrate the program's progress.
  • Arrange and manage fortnightly project team meetings. Ask questions to ensure that their respective activities are aligned, identifying and implementing changes where appropriate so that the project can be delivered effectively within budget.
  • Set agendas, take minutes and agree actions at weekly project meetings with the project team, and communicate to relevant stakeholders.
  • Meet with project team members informally on a daily basis to check progress against agreed actions.
  • Question project team members regarding any slippage against agreed timescales or objectives, and agree action plans to rectify, raising with the individual's manager and Program Manager where the slippage may impact upon Program deliverables.
  • Use change control processes to assess the effect of changes on project costs, time and resources and report to Program Manager with a recommended course of action.
  • Report project status to Release Owner, Development Manager and Senior Manager weekly and regular informal communication.
  • Manage the project through different phases, including phase exits and hand over to the Release Owner when the features have been completed and tested. This will include a capture of lessons learned during the project.
  • Manage later stages on the project, up to and including its release to partner/customer, on-site implementation and receipt of acceptance.

Experience:
  • Essential
    • Worked as a Project Manager in a Software Development environment and as technical contact persons for assigned customers and/or partners
    • Managing a project involving at least 5 people
    • Integrating plans from at least two different groups for projects consisting of at least 1 engineer-years of effort
    • Informing, updating and influencing team leaders, managers and program managers that are not direct reports.
    • Working in a software development environment understanding workflow and roadmap processes.
    • Working to formal project management processes.
    • Worked as technical Pre-Sales or consultant supporting Sales
    • Understanding well operating mode of telecommunication networks
  • Desirable:
    • Experience of operating in a matrix management structure.
    • Management of cross-functional projects.
    • Experience in intercultural business and Sales Enabling processes
