Join the engineering experience team as a Principal Platform Software Engineer, where you will have an opportunity to develop backend software and automation for developers in promoting the features and services to production. Help developers accelerate application development and reduce operational complexity by writing APIs, introducing standards/frameworks for continuous deployment and building Infrastructure as Code on AWS. Collaborate with QA, product engineering teams and lead cross organization DevOps initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities: 



  • Create new APIs, internal platforms, and tools for 1,000 engineers to use every day to get their code shipped 

  • Lead cross organizational DevOps initiatives 

  • Enhance existing tooling around Helm and K8s 

  • Develop Gitops Workflows for Rally Engineering teams 

  • Work with Engineering teams to help build their services in Kubernetes 

  • Help engineers push code from keyboard to production through Github Actions and Jenkins 

  • Manage Kubernetes infrastructure using Terraform and Ansible 

  • Build monitors and alerts that keep uptime high, and production incidents low (Splunk, Datadog) and build automation using Python

Required Qualifications: 



  • 6+ years of experience in backend software development in a modern programming language (Python, Golang, Scala, Ruby, C#, Javascript, etc.) 

  • 6+ years of experience with a major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.) 

  • 6+ years of experience working with Linux containers (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.) 

  • Has driven substantial improvements to an engineering team?s development process or platform 


 


Preferred Qualifications: 



  • 5+ years of experience with a major cloud platform 

  • 1+ years experience managing Kubernetes clusters in AWS 

  • Experience with building and supporting CI/CD platforms for a microservices ecosystem 

  • Experience building cloud infrastructure with Terraform, Ansible, CDK, or Pulumi 

  • Experience with Kubernetes frameworks such as Helm, Flux, Argo CD 

  • Experience working in a large (500+ engineers) software engineering organization 

  • Experience mentoring and coaching less experienced team members 

  • Experience in a strongly regulated software industry (healthcare, finance, etc.)

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado, Connecticut and/or Nevada residents is $94,500 to $171,700. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
