Position: Cloud Architect (AWS & Azure)


Duration: 4 months

Duties:

Review current cloud migration strategies and processes and propose additional processes
Research and create additional application / workload artifacts
Perform application assessment to begin determining application dispositioning
Perform deep dive analysis of applications to understand dependency mapping
Generate preliminary architectural diagrams of future state applications being migrated to cloud
Provide application disposition report for cloud migration
Assist in building Cloud Center of Excellence with UITS resources
Assist in onboarding DevOps teams to ingest cloud migration backlogs and develop methodologies/practices to consume
Works with:

Large to Enterprise sized agile project and operations teams
Cloud Technologies such as AWS and Azure – Private, Public, Hybrid, IaaS+, PaaS, SaaS
Container technologies and microservices
Coding and scripting languages such as PHP, Python, Perl, Ruby, Java, etc.
SDK and CLIs
Various protocols such as HTTP, SSL, SSH, JMS, JDBC, REST API, etc.
Open source technologies such as Dockers, KVM, and Python
Version control systems such as GitHub, Subversion, and Visual Source Safe
Experience:

Comprehensive experience in architecting, designing, and implementing cloud-based and/or cloud-native solutions
Develop a library of deployable and documented cloud design patterns as a basis for deploying services to the cloud
Be a Subject Matter Expert to the organization for UITS cloud end-to-end architecture, including AWS and future providers, networking, provisioning and management
Demonstrate leadership ability to back decisions with research and the "why”, and articulate several options, including pros and cons for each and a recommendation supporting the "why”
Drive scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design, application build, product configuration, unit testing, and production deployment
Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, Elastic Container Service)
Automation experience using tools like CloudFormation, Python, Ansible, and Jenkins
Deep understanding of server virtualization and how to operate in a virtual environment
Understanding of network services such as SSH, NTP, SFTP, FTP, NFS, RPC, SMB/CIFS, SMTP and DNS
Understanding of High Availability and Disaster Recovery system architecture
Experience as a team lead preferred
Mentor and guide junior engineers on the team
Certifications:

AWS Certification – Solutions Architect (Professional Level)
Any Azure Certification
