Job Description :

Primary responsibilities:

1.       Design and implement a solution for upgrading Oracle 12.2 to Oracle 19C.

2.       Move the database services running on physical servers to Google Compute Engine by using a combination of the custom tooling and automation procedures recommended by Google.

3.       Implement automation to standardize the repeated procedures involved in database service maintenance: Patching, backups etc.

4.       Design, implement and optimize solutions for datasets as big as 15 to 20 Terabytes with minimal guidance.

5.       Install, configure and maintain Oracle High Availability solution, Real Application Clusters (RAC), to ensure minimal to no disruption of services to users and Google Customers in an event of software/hardware failures.

6.       Perform puppet troubleshooting, creating manifests and understanding the existing puppet code.

7.       Develop complex scripts that will automate repeatable solutions to support Database activities for Cloud Platform implementation. Generate PL/SQL packages, procedures and functions, program using Python and Shell scripts.

 

Secondary responsibilities:

1.       Perform Database administrator (“DBA”) toil such as Tablespace extensions, adding users, schema export/import without Oracle Enterprise Manager (“OEM”)

2.       Perform Database Administration (DBA) duties in a large-scale, complex environment which includes tasks like Table and Tablespace management, Schema/User Management, Export/Import of schema, tables/tablespace, Index Rebuild/Reorganize Indexes.

3.       Implement Physical Database Backup Strategies using RMAN (Recovery Manager) Full, Cumulative and Incremental backups

4.       Setup/Configuration of data guard broker

5.       Provide Shell/PL SQL/Python scripts for DBA activities

6.       Ensure compliance of service infrastructure with Google policies. Optimize existing environments based on business and security needs. Ensure the overall reliability and scalability of services that Googlers are dependent on.

7.       Work with internal partner teams to collaborate on developing automated solutions.

8.       Implement Physical Database Backup Strategies using RMAN (Recovery Manager) Full, Cumulative and Incremental backups

9.       Provide SME (Subject Matter Expertise) on Database Performance Analysis and Database Performance Tuning

10.    Design and Configure Data Replication by Log Shipping between Primary and Standby sites to ensure that there is no data loss in the event of a disaster

 

Qualifications:

·         8 years of experience administering Oracle database services (versions 12 and 19c).

·         BS degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent practical experience.

·         Coding experience in one or more multi-purpose languages(preferably Python) and BASH scripting.

·         Hands-on experience with database version upgrades.

·         Hands-on experience in migrating legacy database implementations to cloud.

·         Hands-on experience in configuration management tools like Ansible, Chef, Puppet etc.

·         Oracle replication with Data guard.
