Job Description :

The selected candidate will be dedicated to supporting the dynamic network environment at the Port Authority World Trade Center site.

The Sr. Network Engineer(s) must provide subject matter expertise in Cisco routing/switching products, network design/management/monitoring, and design of networks supporting functional departments at the WTC.

Candidate must have a strong grasp of various network disciplines including routing/switching, wireless, security and network architectures.

Responsibilities also include:

·         Plan, design and handle the installation of local and wide area networks, including the recommendation of system software and hardware

·         Support the research of emerging technologies and industry best practices as well as the project management life cycle.

·         Capture requirements, analyze technical networking issues, develop options and recommendations

·         Review and audit security policies, firewall policies and when necessary to ensure compliance and inclusion of newly adopted technologies

·         Research, analyze, plan and develop hardware and software requirements

·         Lead project management activities for new system requirements, RFP responses, and new technology deployments

·         Create and update Network Diagrams in MS Visio, and document processes/procedures

·         Collaborate with WTC line departments, end-users, partners and associates to resolve complex issues

·         Knowledge of fiber systems utilizing CWDM/DWDM technologies

·         Must have network “hands-on” technical experience (LAN/WAN)

·         Knowledge of structured cable system design and implementations.

·         IEEE Cat 6, single/multimode fiber

·         Experience with Cisco Unified Wireless deployments

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in Network Engineering Field
  • 3-5+ years Cisco Network Engineering experience with routers, switches, LAN, WAN, and dynamic routing protocols (EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS)
  • Command level configuration skills of Cisco switches/routers
  • Experience with troubleshooting tools such as protocol analyzers and SIEMs
  • Understanding of IEEE Category 6 cabling and termination connectors
  • Basic understanding of fiber optic cabling and termination connector types
  • Must have network "hands-on" technical experience on both contemporary LAN/WAN environments
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) along with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Strong understanding of networking concepts such as VPN, IP subnetting, ACLs, VLANs, etc.
  • Desire to learn and adapt to new technology
  • Ability to prioritize and exercise good time management skills
  • Sense of ownership/accountability
  • Proficient in Word/Excel/Visio

Desired Qualities:

  • Understanding of the following technologies
    • DWDM
    • Wi-Fi
    • Firewall security
    • IP telephony
  • Current CCNA/CCNP certification or CCIE highly preferred
