Responsibilities
Our client in Boston, MA is looking for a Network Engineer for a 1 year contract.

Local Boston, Massachusetts candidates ONLY be considered. Work Will be onsite in Boston, MA.

The Data Operations Technology unit is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to be responsible for a variety of network infrastructure activities. The key role of the Network Engineer will be to monitor, resolve, and recommend solutions for network infrastructure deficiencies. The Network Engineer will become an integral part of Network support team and must be able to work in a team environment.
Specifically the Network Engineer will:
Work with Network Administrator to support on-Premise VMWare Server environment including Patching, Monitoring, and troubleshooting issues
Configuration, maintenance, and support of network switches, routers, and other network appliances
Vendor relationship management with providers of internet and Azure connectivity
Hands on participation in the installation, upgrading and configuration of new servers including the implementation of backup/restore policy
Resolve escalated issues arising from operations that require coordination with other departments
Provide input to a four-five year roadmap including the planning, and recommendation of new hardware, systems management software and architecture and keep the agency up to date on new technologies and industry trends that may impact the organization and identify, recommend, and implement process improvement opportunities where applicable
Support and monitoring of backup infrastructure including VEEAM and Netbackup
Qualifications:
At least five years direct experience, hands on, with VMWare management, maintenance, and monitoring including VMWare VSAN technology
At least seven (7) years direct experience, hands on, installing, patching, configuring and monitoring Windows Server, SQL Server, Linux based servers
At least seven years direct experience, hands on, installing, patching, configuring and monitoring Cisco appliances, switches and firewalls.
Demonstrated ability to build a technology refresh plan including backup, disaster recovery, and secure file storage technologies
Experience with modern backup technologies including VEEAM preferred
Experience working with Azure, AWS or Google cloud preferred
Ability to communicate professionally both verbally and written with all levels of the organization
Experience utilizing tools and research abilities to resolve technical issues
Ability to work independently prioritizes existing projects and proactively determine areas that require additional attention, monitoring or maintenance
Ability to create detailed Visio diagrams in support of network hardware deployments.
Ability to follow standard change management processes. Document and evaluate impact of required changes to the various networked systems. Plan, schedule and communicate changes to be implemented.
Ability to understand and follow sometimes-complex oral and written instructions.
Excellent organizational, verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills with a high degree of attention to detail
Strong interest in learning and keeping current with changing technologies
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in computer science, Information Systems, Business Administration or other related field, or equivalent work experience.
Required Cisco Certifications: CCNA and CCNP or CCIE
Additional Requirements:
Ability to lift up to 35lbs & push 65Lbs
Participation in after-hours upgrades, troubleshooting, and/or on-call availability as needed
