Job Description
The senior data architect is a hands-on role responsible for the design and enhancement of the NoSQL database layer used for the user personal data. The architect will design and implement architectures to support advanced solutions and enrich data in the platform, creating schemas for various product features with extensibility, scalability and operability at its core. The architect will collaborate with data scientists and Analytics team to wrangle data for the design, development, and deployment of the Cassandra cluster to meet the scaling and feature needs of the business.
Responsibilities
Responsible for availability and performance of Cassandra Production and lower environment clusters
Automate the Cassandra configuration changes with Ensile/Puppet or other equivalent automated deployment tool
Ability to work on data modeling, materialized views, graph, datastax driver connection issues, etc.
Managing hardware specs for VMs/Hosts running Cassandra across dev. and production environments.
Chaos Engineering – run chaos tests in dev./staging environments, prepare playbooks for remediation
evaluate and compare other technologies like ScyllaDB for technology upgrades
To perform Disaster recovery checklist as a part of production readiness program to cater for various failure scenarios
Setting up and operating Cassandra clusters in the cloud.
DSE Upgrades - Production as well as lower stacks
Enabling backups of Cassandra data and able to restore the data
Ability to perform capacity planning activities on database storage and performance
Perform regular repairs on Cassandra data for tuning the consistency
Fine-tuning of Cassandra JVM performance
Implement the Industry best practices to improve and secure the Cassandra clusters
Nice to have - Configure DSE Analytics & DSE Graph on the Cassandra nodes

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field (Master’s Degree preferred)
10+ years of hands-on software development experience
Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms and Object Oriented design
Expertise in Core Java and J2EE technologies such as Spring Boot and Hibernate
Experience designing REST APIs and software components
Experience with database design, both SQL and No-SQL
Experience with micro services
Strong understanding of message brokers such as ActiveMQ
Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines
