• 0-2 years of UI design

• Portfolio of original and breakthrough work with demonstrated documentation of those experiences.

• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

• Proficiency in UI design tools such as A e XD, Sketch, Zeplin, and Abstract

• Prototyping experience with applications such as Principal, Flinto, Framer or Invision

• Bachelor's degree in fine arts, design, or human-centered interaction or professional experience. 

The UX and Research is a full-service Product Design organization within DIRECTV’s Entertainment Group. We are a collective of designers, researchers, strategists, prototypers, and producers. The Jr UI Designer ****will be joining the team to support and develop the user experience and design aspects of our entertainment products. The Jr UI Designer works with the design and product team to develop a cohesive experience throughout our platform in order to increase user satisfaction. Our ideal candidate participates in the design process through its completion by supporting team leads to present to stakeholders and working along developers to ensure accurate implementation. This candidate is developing their skills in the design process, problem solving process and product implementation process. As a Jr Designer, you will be participating in all design activities from concepting, system design thinking, and production of assets and specifications.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated self-starter who is eager to help shape their own role and contribution. In return, you will be an integral part of the team, helping to develop, define and grow our process and design within DIRECTV.

Roles & Responsibilities:  

• Participate in the visual design strategy for our entertainment products and work with other designers and cross-functional partners to drive consensus across products.

• Learning how to develop and scale hands on experience throughout the process, from interactive experiences to visual design guidelines.

• Design elegant user interfaces and interactions while maintaining a systematic design system and asset library. Consistently design with patterns and a system at large but have the sensibility to break patterns and develop new ones when the solution calls for it.

• Actively contribute and improve our design system language.

• Actively participate in maintaining a cohesive design and experience throughout our product, while providing expertise and adaptability.

• Be an active supporting team member to the UX/UI growth and raise the capacity, skills, and quality of user-centered design of yourself on the design team.

• Understand our user base to create visual representation that drives consensus across multiple generations while pushing the envelope of design.

• Operate within a Scaled Agile environment to deliver quality design solutions against aggressive timelines and competing priorities.

• Effectively delivers design in a manner that development is able to intake and quickly develop. Pivoting and creating solutions around delivered materials to ease and speed up process is expected.

Work with team on creative brainstorming, ideation, rapid-prototyping, and other problem-solving with user experience and visual designers, engineers, and other stakeholders on multiple projects.

1) Strong collaboration and alignment with teams responsible for online and mobile experiences ensuring needs me across all media.

2) Design UI comps that reflect sound UX thinking using traditional visual design principles and tools (visual hierarchy, composition, typography, color theory, etc.).

3) Work closely with UX designers and internal user researchers to support usability and focus group test plans and prototype support (paper or interactive prototypes, as appropriate).

4) User advocate supporting features and products throughout the project lifecycle ensuring best experience implemented. This includes software development support, reviews, and presentations. Requires clarity in speech, writing, and presentations to a variety of audiences (ex: engineers, managers, executives).
