General Characteristics

Manages and maintains all production and non-production databases. Responsible for standards and design of physical data storage, maintenance, access and security administration. Performs backup and recovery on Database Management Systems, configures database parameters, and prototype designs against logical data models, defines data repository requirements, data dictionaries and warehousing requirements. This position optimizes database access and allocates/re-allocates database resources for optimum configuration, database performance and cost.

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work

experience.

Experience:

·   Seven years of experience in database administration, information technology, database architecture, or a related field

·   MCSE/MCSA certifications preferred

·   Experience with Oracle database administration

·   Experience with Linux and Windows Server environments

·   Extensive experience with database technologies such as (MySQL, MS SQL, Oracle PL/SQL)

·   Experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure) a plus

Complexity:

Intermediate professional level role. Supports multiple services and multiple databases of medium to high complexity (complexity defined by database size, technology used, systems feeds and interfaces) with multiple concurrent users, ensuring control, integrity and accessibility of data. Works on multiple projects as a project leader or sometimes as a project advisor. May coach more junior technical staff.

Database Administrator Job Responsibilities:

·   Install and maintain the performance of database servers.

·   Develop processes for optimizing database security.

·   Set and maintain database standards.

·   Manage database access.

·   Performance tuning of database systems.

·   Install, upgrade, patching, and manage database applications.

·   Diagnose and troubleshoot database errors.

·   Recommend and implement emerging database technologies.

·   Create and manage database reports, visualizations, and dashboards.

·   Be available for on-call support as needed.

Database Administrator Qualifications/Skills:

·   Strong command of SQL and SQL server tools

·   Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards

·   Understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling

·   PowerShell and Unix shell scripting skills

·   Familiarity with SSAS, SSIS, SSRS

·   Strong mathematical and statistical knowledge

·   Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·   Impeccable attention to detail



Other Requirements:

Skilled in Windows, Solaris and Unix

SQL Versions:

·   SQL Server 2014

·   SSMS 12.0

·   SSAS 12.0

·   Tools: TOAD and Oracle Grid

·   Scripting Languages: shell and TSQL
