Description:
Overall, Purpose of the Role
As a Java Tech Support Engineer, you will be part of a Support team providing API based support for middleware and backend API based applications for the US Based credit card line of business hosted on premise and private cloud. Working closely with security, infrastructure and platform teams to delivery world class security and resilience all while automating application upgrades and patches using DevOps tools.
Main duties and responsibilities:
  • You will be driving major incident calls with channels and stakeholder teams to resolve issues within SLA
  • Building and maintaining a strong working relationship across the Contact Centre organization (BTB/Operations/Business) to ensure alignment and sharing of best practice for service management success
  • Maintaining all relevant service documentation in line with agreed standards on the Service Run Books site (includes SLAs, Support Models, OLAs, Service Maps and Service Review minutes)
  • Diagnosing and resolving root cause of issues related to SQL databases, networks and middleware messaging products
  • Holding regular Service reviews with Vendors to track service performance and ability to challenge or question missed SLAs, etc.
  • Liaising with component teams for ensuring service availability
  • Developing In-depth knowledge of Services owned and awareness of current business developments and tracking upcoming technical deliveries within own service portfolio
  • Owning and delivering service improvement plans (Incident/Problem/Change) by coordinating and working with the Global GTSM Contact Centre L2 Leads/teams

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree (Preferably in Engineering/Computer Science)
  • 1-2 ITIL framework for Service Management experience
  • 2+ years of hands-on programming experience with Java / .Net, UNIX (Shell scripting) & SQL
  • Familiarity with Spring, Hibernate / Spring data frameworks, Messaging like Kafka / ActiveMQ.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting technology (ex. Splunk, AppDynamics, Service First, ELK)
  • Experience of working with Global teams preferred
  • Java Certification (SCJP)/Oracle Certifications/Experience with APIs/JMS platforms (Apache/WebSphere MQ) preferred
  • Good understanding of the Card /Banking Industry
