Job Description :

We are looking for a Full-time/contract employee for a Java Developer. 

The Developer (Java) position will report to the Director of the Medicaid/CHIP Systems team. This team is a part of the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) Information Technology - Applications.

The Developer will assist with the Exceptional Item #8 initiative.

  • This position will aid in the development and updating of selected applications in support of this initiative The development work will be conducted using the Java programming language.
  • The developer’s responsibilities include:
  • Working with subject matter experts across the HHS system to understand application requirements.
  • Working with team leads in designing, implementing, testing, and deploying assigned application tasks.
  • Resolving reported application defects.
  • Participating in code reviews.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Experience in IT and the application development life cycle
  • Experience in WebSphere (Application & Portal Server versions 6 & greater) development
  • Experience in Java, JSP, and JSF programming development
  • Experience in Oracle/Sybase programming development
  • Experience in using Rational Application Developer 7 or greater
  • Experience in Perl programming development
  • Experience in Unix programming development
  • Experience in performing rigorous test case scenarios
  • Experience with GUI (Desktop and Web)
  • Web services programming experience
  • Previous experience validating business requirements and design specifications with users
  • Experience in Hibernate programming development
  • Experience with customer service
  • System design experience (Batch and Online)
  • Experience working in a State/Federal government environment
  • Experience with programming for Accessibility
  • Experience with HHSC programs, including Long Term Care applications.
