JOB DESCRIPTION:
Geospatial Information System (GIS) JAVA Engineer
The GIS Project Lead Engineer provides technical designs and systems engineering for the Geo Electrical Model Management (GEMMS) Ecosystem Project along with programming expertise, leadership, and technical skills. The GIS Lead Engineer, in partnership with architecture, sets the direction and plans the technical aspects of the project. The GIS Lead Engineer needs to be able to combine technical design skills, strong engineering expertise, excellent communication skills and broad business knowledge to successfully install, configure and develop customizations and integrations with other systems.


REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
1. Large system upgrades
2. Knowledge and previous experience with Geospatial Information Systems is required.
3. API First Design; Interfacing through Middleware Product (i.e.: Anypoint/MuleSoft)
4. Web services (SOAP and Rest)
5. Java architecture and programming
6. Oracle Databases (knowledge of PL SQL to interpret logic to ensure it is in new system)
7. Architect background - high level point of view
8. Project Lead experience; working with Supplier, and OPPD technology and business partner teams
9. CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment) and Release Management
10. Automated testing; Technical direction and guidance; Documentation and communication at all levels
11. Expert-level knowledge and implementation of complex, enterprise-scale applications, including but not limited to software design, API design, development and lifecycle management, middleware, security, database, and identity management.
12. Agile methodologies and execution; Advanced level of proficiency using Java, C#, Groovy, Oracle PL/SQL and scripting languages with both Windows and Linux environments.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Analyze technical needs, requirements, and state of the Application delivery infrastructure design, integration, and operations for the existing GIS product, identify gaps and develop plans and designs to successfully implement the new GIS product.
2. Support project procurement activities, engineering analysis, quality evaluations and consideration of vendor solutions
3. Ensure configuration standards, procedures and operational system parameters are developed, documented and implemented
4. Communicate all concepts and guidelines successfully to the Application delivery team and provide written documentation to support the understanding and knowledge transfer.
5. Ensure alignment with technical leadership, Application delivery standards, OPPD Architecture standards, and security practices.
6. Provide technical guidance and coaching to members of the Application delivery team
7. Collaborate across the organization towards OPPD goals and objectives related to the GEMMS Ecosystem Project.
