Detailed Job Description: 

The recruitment is being used to fill (1) Enterprise Architect IV position for the Bureau of Information Technology Services at the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families.  This position will serve as the Enterprise Data Architect and support the enterprise application and data platform.  The position will support data management efforts across the Bureau to standardize data modeling practices to better align data architecture with technology, application architecture and security needs.  The position will work closely with the database management and application development teams to enhance data interoperability and data integration efforts.  This position will play a lead role in establishing DCF’s data interoperability strategy as well as a DCF data classification and security framework.

Ideal candidate will have the ability to be self-directed and able to work independently.   The ideal candidate will have excellent written and oral communication and will have experience creating and documenting technical processes and standards.

Position requires a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience. Typically has 10 or more years of experience with large and complex database management systems, business intelligence tools and applications.

Ideal candidate will have additional skills and experience in the following areas:

  • Implementing data management standards to ensure consistencies in the metadata categories within the data models.
  • Produce and enforce database development standards and ensure consistencies across all of the data models within DCF business intelligences.
  • Design, maintain and develop database architecture as well as conceptual, logical and physical data models.  Ensure that all relevant aspects of data model (granularity, etc.) are taken into account. Analyze the logical and physical database models and guarantee models are in accordance with standards.
  • Data conversion and integration expertise to increase interoperability within the data platform
  • Be responsible for leading and facilitating communication with business customers, IT staff, and other stakeholders, incorporating business requirements into data model design.
  • Translate technical aspects of data modeling into language that non-technical users can understand.  Work with both technologists as well as non-technical users with ease and approachability
  • Make recommendations on data maintenance tactics for slowly changing dimensions, data roll-off / archival planning, etc.
  • Coach, mentor and lead other data modelers.

It is required to have full audio/video conferencing capabilities (camera and headset).

  1. Selected candidate will not be assigned specific work-space however, may be required to report in person as needed with minimal notice.
  2. An in-person interview may be required before a final hire is made.  The hiring manager has discretion to allow phone or video interviews at any point during the process.

  4. The selected candidate will be required to sign all onboarding documents as part of the onboarding process. Candidate will also be required to complete any security training as directed by the division, department, or agency.

  6. This position is budgeted for 1960 hours annually.  Hours will be prorated the first year based on start date.

Responsible for conception of solutions, building consensus and the selling and execution of such solutions.

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work experience. Typically has 10 or more years of IT work experience in multiple IT areas and 3 or more years of relevant enterprise wide architecture experience in one or more specialty areas.

Washington Ave., Madison, WI 53703.  DCF does not pay for travel time or reimburse for travel expenses.
