Role: Product Compliance Engineer

Job Description:

1. Work with a high level of accuracy and efficiency to support high volume of new product launches.
2. Create requirements for compliance test plans and coordinate testing through internal compliance lab (CTDP
3. Manage groups of projects and product categories simultaneously reporting to management on critical path, top project priorities, and develop project timelines when requested.
4. Develop rationale for testing requirements to satisfy safety requirements through UL, CSA, ETL, or other compliance or energy efficiency program requirement.
5. Analyze and verify drawings prepared for special product applications and adaptations to insure they meet product specifications and construction review.
6. Analyzes and interprets engineering requirements and components to support PDR (MTO) orders.
7. Reviews drawings, calculations, and specification of products and components for accuracy.
8. Analyzes and evaluates test data to include the recommendation and evaluation of design values, feasibility of product manufacture and sales potential.
9. Coordinates and implements product testing at internal and NRTL test labs to include follow-up submittals and product development to comply with safety standards and to satisfy product introduction dates.
10. Prepares and writes product procedures reflecting critical components and assembly so that field inspectors can identify approved parts and components.

11. Works with the factory inspectors to include solving day-to-day problems relative to material disposition, labeling, and overall coordination of field effort.
12. Resolve variation notices from manufacturing sites to bring the product that has deviated back into compliance.
13. Develop and track metrics to measure project deliverables. Document cost reductions and/or cost avoidances.
14. NEC (National Electric Code) interpretation to support field service requests.
15. Develop upon request official communications to AHJ or customers that state or clarify the products compliance status.
16. Should act as "go-to" person for interpretation / application of safety standard(s) clauses

Primary Skills:

This position is responsible for supporting local and remote product development teams to identify and meet the compliance requirements for products as specified by the project teams. This will include investigating compliance issues, analyzing standards, interpreting standards, defining and applying technical specifications to develop test requirements and define design requirements. Position services internal product teams, manufacturing sites, and provides guidance for internal labs. Position also requires preparation of reports for NRTL compliance (e.g. UL, CSA, ETL) submittal and acceptance. Prior experience of any of the standard - UL 916 (Energy Management Equipment) , UL 508 (Industrial Control Equipment) , UL 1598, UL 8750, UL 924 and UL 1310 is recommended. Products that require compliance are luminaires and electronic controls. This position will also support the product stewardship process and supplier collaboration activities as well as administrative work for supplier obsolescence and responding to internal customer service teams.
