Job Description :
Role: IBM AIX consultant
Location: Ann Arbor, MI
Duration: 6-9 Months
Role and Responsibilities:
Key responsibilities:
Ø System administration and security of AIX operating systems at version 6 and later on IBM Power 6 architecture and higher
Ø System administration and security of HMCs and VIOS
Ø Maintenance of AIX HACMP clusters
Ø Planning and installation of new operating system releases to maintain software currency
Ø Planning and application of cumulative PTF packages.
Ø Planning and installation of upgrades/new software
Ø Planning and installation of security patches
Ø Change management of system & software configurations
Ø Implementation and continuous compliance with IBM''s security standards.
Ø Creation and maintenance of documentation
Ø Working to establish and build up on working relationships with customer groups and other support teams
Ø Preparation, reviews and approvals of change control plans
Ø Tuning of systems/software components to improve performance
Ø Monitoring of system backups (mksysb and filesystem)
Ø Working with other support teams to determine root causes of problems
Required Professional and Technical Expertise:
Ø AIX, pSeries/SP, HACMP
Ø HMC
Ø VIOS
Ø IBM Tivoli Storage Manager
Ø Extensive experience in dealing with remote, global support teams
Ø Availability for on-call work
Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise
Knowledge of Linux (especially Debian)
Experience with IBM middleware - e.g. WAS, DB2, HIS
Experience with IBM''s Tivoli range of systems management products
Experience with IBM ITIM/ISIM
Good general IT literacy
