The HCL Cloud Native are the go-to people in HCL for conversations and, most importantly, practical assistance with cloud-native adoption. As a team, we show customers what is possible with proof of concepts, workshops, and demonstrations. We are looking for a Platform Engineer to join the team to build and support the cutting-edge platforms we use in the IBM Red Hat ecosystem both on our Labs hardware and in the public cloud.
You will be an experienced Platform Engineer with knowledge of containers, Kubernetes, Public Cloud, and automation technologies. You will fully embrace Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles as we aim to demonstrate and share what good looks like in platform operations. You are not going to be doing the same thing over and over; you will need to design, test, document, automate and move to the next thing.
We are highly collaborative and share what we know and learn within the team, HCL, and customers through articles, whitepapers, and conference talks. As gold members of the CNCF, we are also actively encouraged to contribute to open-source projects. We do our best to keep abreast of trends and predict the future, so a passion for continuous learning and experimentation is vital. Required Skills
· Experience with Kubernetes or even better OpenShift 4.x
· Excellent documentation skills, everything you do should be reproducible by others
· Understanding of Infrastructure Automation tools like Terraform or Ansible and scripting. Documenting steps is good, automating is better
· Hands-on Public Cloud experience, e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure, IBM Cloud
· Knowledge of virtualisation technologies like VMware, KVM
· Problem-solving and research skills, we are often the first people to try new technologies so there may not be a path to follow
· Experience working in Agile teams
Desirable Skills
Ideally, we'd like as many of the following as possible:
· Experience with OpenShift 4.x or Kubernetes in production
· Experience with DevOps techniques such as building a CI/CD pipeline from scratch
· CKA, Public Cloud DevOps or Architect certification
· Understanding of network function virtualisation, VNFs and CNFs.
· Knowledge of storage, networking, hardware etc. the more you are willing to get involved in when resolving issues, the faster we will go
· IBM Cloud
· IBM Satellite
· Experience of installing / using IBM Cloud Paks e.g. Cloud Pak for Data, Cloud Pak for Business Automation
· IBM Cloud Pak for Network Automation
· High level knowledge of 4G and 5G architecture and components
