Position: Big Data Engineer

Location: Bay Area, CA

Long Term Contract

Job Description:

  • Bachelor’s/ Master's in Computer Science or related disciplines
  • 9 to 10+ years experience in developing software applications including analysis, design, coding, testing, deploying and support of applications.
  • Must have had at least 3 big data program implementations on any Hadoop distribution.
  • Experience in software development of large-scale distributed systems with a proven track record of delivering backend systems with complex data transformations and infrastructure.
  • Very strong programming skills in one or more languages, preferably Python, Scala or Java.
  • Proficient with software architecture (Data Modelling, Design Patterns).
  • Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, & distributed systems.
  • Deep understanding of Big data and Hadoop architecture.
  • Strong experience in Hadoop related technologies especially Hive and writing complex shell scripts
  • Proficient with Spark development, preferably using Scala or Python.
  • Hands-on experience in working with at least one relation database (Oracle, Postgres, MySQL etc..) and one NoSQL database (HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB etc…).
  • Hands-on experience with one or multiple cloud related technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Hands-on experience working with ETL tools like Apache NiFi, Airflow, Oozie, Talend, DataStage etc.
  • Knowledge of ELK stack, CI/CD and Containerization (Docker/Kubernetes) is a plus.
  • Excellent planning, project management, leadership and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team.
  • Delivery focused and willingness to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Take initiative and be responsible for delivering complex software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication.

PREFERRED

  • Experience with reporting/visualization tools like Tableau, PowerBI etc.
  • Hadoop, Spark or Cloud Certification.
