Job Description: This position will consult, analyse and deliver on application development assignments/projects for the Inbound File Team within Group Protection IT Customer Implementations. This developer will write code to handle inbound custom files feeding to downstream systems. Previous Python experience preferred. * 3 - 5+ years experience in application development * Highly proficient in software engineering languages and tools; ability to develop on multiple platforms. * Proven record of developing and supporting Java applications; understanding and applying best practices is essential. * Intermediate understanding of Unix/Linux commands * Knowledge of the following is a plus: Spring Batch, SQL Stored Procedures, SSIS, Access VBA * Strong understanding of unit testing and methodologies * Familiarity with dependency and build management tools (e.g. Maven, Gradle) * Experience with layered system architectures and layered solutions; understanding of shared software concepts. * Experience with Atlassian suite (Jira, Bamboo, Confluence, Crucible) is a plus. * Familiarity with CI/CD Methodologies & Tooling (e.g. Jenkins, Docker) * Experience with agile software development is a plus * General understanding of new and emerging technologies including open-source * Excellent communication, collaboration, and analytical skills
