Description:

The Mac Systems Engineer is primarily responsible for supporting managed Mac computers, including support for Apple Mac hardware, macOS, Apple Apps and all approved 3rd party Apps installed on Macs. The role involves administration and management of computers within Jamf Pro, following all required Mac engineering guidelines and standards.

 

The successful candidate will be a member of the Mac Engineering team, working closely with globally dispersed IT support teams, which are responsible for providing 1st and 2nd level support for the Mac platform.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Work as a key member of the Mac Engineering team, providing expert support for Mac related incidents and service requests.

Follow Mac Engineering and Support Standards, Procedures and Best Practices.

Analyze, identify and troubleshoot Mac related issues, participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and document appropriate solutions.

Be a primary escalation for Level 2 issues related to the MAC platform

Assist the Service Desk and global IT Site Support teams with Mac related incidents and Service Requests.

Participate in bi-weekly review sessions with IT Support teams, to extend their support capabilities on the Mac platform.

Contribute to maintaining and enhancing Mac deployment workflows, for Automated and User Initiated Mac Computer enrollments.

Manage Macs in Apple Business Manager as a Device Enrollment Manager.

Proactively assist with ongoing assignments to remediate and maintain settings and configurations on productively managed Mac Computers in Jamf Pro.

Proactively assist with ongoing assignments to maintain up-to-date Apps on managed Macs in Jamf Pro.

Assist with full lifecycle management of all Macs in Jamf Pro.

 

Skills and Requirements:

Excellent knowledge of supporting Apple hardware, macOS and Mac Applications.

Excellent knowledge of supporting the Microsoft O365 software stack on Mac.

5+ years of experience in supporting Mac specific technical queries.

Jamf 200 certification

2+ years using Jamf Pro at a Jamf 200 level and capacity

Knowledge of Active Directory/LDAP users and groups

Ability to work independently, multi-task, and take ownership of various parts of a project or an initiative

Ability to work with virtual teams in various global regions

Ability to work under pressure and manage unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.

Excellent communication and troubleshooting skills

Self-starter, yet highly collaborative with your team via chat and conference calls

 

Nice to Have:

Hands on experience with Bash scripting

Experience with Jamf Connect and Jamf Protect

Experience with security tools on a Mac platform
