Role: System Admin (Unix/Linux)
Duration: 12+ months
Location: Manhattan Middletown, NY
Interview: Phone + Skype
This is NOT a DevOps position. If someone is currently doing more DevOps work now, that’s fine but they must have the UNIX/Linux Engineering and Admin experience in their past.
The low-latency and high-frequency experience is absolutely/positively required.
Notes:
Role is sitting on the Electronic Market Making Team is a Systems engineer supporting low latency systems in a high frequency trading environment. Focus will be on the systems side working on projects with strong understanding of the network. Must have puppet, low latency experience, kernel tuning, redhat 7,
Experience Needed:
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Systems Administration, Architecture, and Engineering (RHEL)
Ability to learn and adopt to new environment quickly
Management / ITIL process
Experience working in large, 24x7 environments

Educational Requirements:
Bachelor Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering or Business Administration
Desired / Plus:
MS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
RedHat or Microsoft certifications
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide day to day UNIX support for the trading platform
Work on server projects and deliverables for our trading platform
Coordinate with Network, UNIX, Datacenter and IT Support on infrastructure enhancements
Manage project timelines and client expectations
Work on long term architecture improvements and fin-tech market watch
Contribute documentation and knowledge sharing with UNIX team
Review standards and design for industrialization and automation
Act as an ambassador for GTS initiatives to enhance IT self-service
Technical Skills:
In-depth knowledge of various of operating systems, administrative tools and monitoring tools
Strong understanding of I.T. infrastructure and good communication skill
Team player, positive attitude, good communicator, friendly personality able to work in a multicultural environment
Good project management skill ,able to work individually, organize and manage own tasks
Willing to learn, pick up the required knowledge of infrastructure technologies (e.g. server, vmware, storage and backup)
Consistently look for new technologies with used cases for infrastructure improvement.
Advanced Linux skills and experience as a system admin who worked closely with his clients on a day to day basis
Experience working in a front line support role where timely issue resolution is critical
Experiencing designing and monitoring a PTP implementation.
