Senior Windows Systems Engineer
Location: -Wilmington/DE
Long term Contract role
Overview: This position requires an individual who is well versed in Windows and related technologies like Active Directory and Exchange. The ideal candidate must enjoy working in a dynamic setting, with a unique ability to effectively juggle multiple high priority challenges. The Senior Windows Systems Engineer is responsible for the creation and maintenance of Windows servers that support all the business efforts of the company. This position will also be responsible for interfacing with various levels of the business; he/she will be required to assist other team members with projects as necessary.
Engineering & Administration
· Develop and present proposals and technical solutions to management
· Technically oversees and administers Windows Systems environment and interoperability with all areas of the business.
· Monitors multiple platforms [Windows/VMWare/Storage/Backend Applications]
· Monitors Windows Incident(s) and problem queues daily
· Responsible for resolving highly complex challenges in a timely manner
· Recommend and apply critical system preventive fixes to maintain reliability and availability
· Develop and produce daily, weekly, monthly and annual system reporting for all Windows servers
Qualifications/Skills
· Ability to solve highly complex problems spanning multiple technologies and discipline
· Assist in the design and implementation of solutions revolving around Windows technologies that will meet
· Current and future Business needs enterprise wide.
· Capacity to learn and gain a high-level understanding of multiple technologies
· Out of hours and weekend working will be necessary
· Windows BackOffice applications and associated technologies is a must (Exchange, SQL MS Clustering, NLB)
· Knowledge of third-party technologies like Symantec suites, VMWare and applications that interact with this platform, monitoring, alerting, log collection and vulnerability and intrusion detection are highly desirable.
· Comprehensive understanding of file system interoperability among heterogeneous environments (DFS/R)
Business Partnership
· Create business solutions/partnership by working with internal and external staff to ensure company success
Experience Required/Preferred/Optional
· Required – Expertise with AD Administration/Migrations (5-7 yrs)
· Required – Expertise with designing domains and associated Zones
· Required – Expertise with Exchange Administration/Migrations · Required – Expertise with HP hardware architecture, troubleshooting and diagnostics
· Required – Solid understanding of VMWare and fiber channel storage (3-5 yrs) · Required – Knowledge of Veritas Netbackup and Symantec Enterprise Vault
· Preferred – Windows and Exchange Performance Tuning using tools like BPA’s, DCDiag etc.
· Preferred – Windows system level security
· Preferred – Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery Skills
· Preferred – Strong background with SAN (EMC)
· Preferred – Strong background integration of Mobile device (BB & IPhones)
Certifications:
· Windows MCTIP-EA, VCP, etc. not necessary but a plus
Education:
· This position requires a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent discipline
