Senior SQL Server DBA Oklahoma city, OK 6 months contract


The current technical environment is on a Microsoft platform and development is primarily in .NET. The environment also includes Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft Active Directory, Web Services, Windows Services and exchange applications. Future source code will be compiled, assembled, managed, and solutions built for deployment to the testing and production environments using Microsoft Azure DevOps Server (formerly Team Foundation Server (TFS.

The Sr. Database Administrator should possess and demonstrate the following skills:

Ensure data integrity, data security and performance of production databases.
Ability to work as a part of a team as well as independently, when required.
Work closely within the Oklahoma Judiciary to establish tactical plans for storing and warehousing court data.
Design and construct highly available and secure databases, data warehouses, data marts, and business intelligence platforms using but not limited to Microsoft PowerBI, Microsoft Reporting Services, Microsoft Integration Services, Microsoft Analysis Services and Microsoft SQL Server.
Support departmental operations in a high-throughput production environment by proactively managing the performance, integrity, and security of Court Applications'' databases and database servers.
Create databases and database objects such as tables, indexes, views, triggers, functions and stored procedures as necessary.
Create and maintain customized database reports and perform data analysis.
Assist in the management of the hardware and software as related to the operations of the SQL Server DBMS, including system development, maintenance, and recommendations of purchases of new hardware and software.
Perform and, under limited supervision, maintain reliability of data and databases, and assist in developing and implementing standard operating procedures for database maintenance and configuration.
Responsible for synchronizing and migrating data and database objects between development, quality assurance, and production environments.
Mentor and provide support to other Database Administrators and Software Applications Developers in best practices for database design, programming, and tuning.
Work as a member of the technology team to assist in providing maximum availability and support of information technology systems.
Support the development of data loads and extracts using Integration Services or other ETL applications.
Run diagnostics and maintain operational logs and documentation at server and database level
Setup, manage, and maintain database and reporting services security.
Setup and maintain SQL Server Audits at server and database level in accord with the Security Teams Operational standards.
Provide High Availability using Always on Availability Groups in conjunction with Systems clustering protocols.
Ensure data security by configuring database servers to use TLS 1.2 (1.3) which will encrypt data in transit. Also install and implement Transparent Data Encryption (TDE) on all production Database service to provide data security at rest.
Provide on-call support as needed.
All Other duties as assigned by the Data Systems Manager or IT Directors.
Demonstrated database administration experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
Experience maintaining database systems of different sizes, consisting of normalized and de-normalized data and table structures.
Experience maintaining and administering a SQL Server Reporting Services servers.
Experience with data modeling techniques, including normal form and dimensional modeling.
Experience with physical data modeling techniques including use of indexes, materialized views, system aggregates, etc.
System architecture, including database and system performance tuning, as well as hardware and network workload balancing experience.
Knowledge of and experience in implementing virtual data marts.
Experience with ETL operations using (but not limited to) Integration Services.
Working knowledge of Windows Server 2012 - 2016 Operating Systems.
Proficient in Microsoft Office (365 and/or latest desktop version)
Experience with Azure DevOps Server / Team Foundation Server.
Must be familiar with Microsoft PowerBI and how it is incorporated into the environment.
Must be able to show initiative and flexibility in a dynamic environment.
Strong communication (written, verbal and presentation) skills.
Experience with Court operations is preferred.
Familiarity with Data Warehousing methodology and design is a plus.
Education
Bachelors’ of science degree from an accredited college in Computer Science/Information Systems, math, engineering or related technical field.
MSCA SQL 2016 Database Administration or equivalent and MSCA SQL 2016 Database Development is a plus.
Advanced degree is a plus.
