Job Title: Senior Database Developer

Description:
Defines and plans data base architecture for enterprise systems. Responsible for enterprise-wide data design, optimization, and resource utilization. Knowledge of construction and design of data architectures, data modeling, and database design. Oversees the technical design, development, and maintenance of databases and master files on large complex projects. Follows data architecture standards, policies and procedures, and classification of data elements. Responsible for design, implementation, recovery and load strategy. Analyzes and projects long-range space requirements. Communicates architectural approaches and makes database structural recommendations. Coordinates with other Information Systems departments to ensure implementation of databases and monitoring of database performance. Ensures architectural integrity and consistency across the entire project. Bachelor''s degree in computer science, information systems, or other related field. Ability to manage multiple assignments. Superior written and oral communication skills. 6-10+ years of experience.
DESCRIPTION:
The candidate for this position will be responsible for providing development, and second line production support for Verizon’s application security tools. The candidate will provide database development/support to enable automation of security testing/vulnerability management functions, enable DevSecOps automation of core security tasks in Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC Job function responsibilities include database development in MySQL and SQL Server, development of ETL scripts, complex stored procedures and functions as well as support cloud migration activities based on new business and security requirements.
JOB DUTIES:
Support migration of data from SQL Server to MySQL.
Migrate simple to very complex SQL Server Stored Procedures & Functions into MySQL.
Plan & estimate database size requirements for growth.
Develop and optimize physical design of MySQL database systems.
Optimize MySQL database performance(indexing and query performance tuning
Participate in data modeling process.
Establish ETL process to load data from SQL Server to AWS Aurora MySQL RDS.
Develop scripts on Amazon Glue to set up ETL Jobs between SQL server and AWS Aurora MySQL RDS.
Test backup/restore of database.
MUST HAVE SKILLS:
5+ years of experience with MySQL & SQL Server with considerable knowledge of database design and development.
5+ years of experience & proficiency in SQL programming related to MySQL & SQL Server.
5+ years hands-on experience with developing ETL.
3+ years of experience with performance tuning.
2+ years of experience running databases on AWS Cloud.
Experience writing Python scripts on AWS Glue.
Knowledge of HA/DR solutions including replication topologies.
Experience with scheduling database jobs on Linux & Windows.
Experience administering databases on Linux based systems.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal groups, team leaders and members.
DESIRED SKILLS:
Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS
Experience and knowledge with data modeling.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:
- BS in computer science or a related field.
