POSITION - SQL Data Warehouse Developer
LOCATION- Redwood City, CA (455 County Center)
DURATION- 18 months plus
CLIENT- County of San Mateo

This is a backfill position.
They interviewed 8 candidates the first time around and just hired one of them (our candidate Biswa Here is what is important to them (which was lacking with the candidates they interviewed):
1. Excellent communication skills and ability to obtain business requirements from business stakeholders.
2. Familiar with all phases of building (from a technical perspective) and implementing an enterprise data warehouse. Not just a resource that takes direction, but can provide input in constructing the data warehouse.
3. The business stakeholders have varying degrees of “data literacy”; therefore the resource needs to be able to breakdown data so non-technical stakeholders can understand the data.
4. The two resources that will be building the enterprise data warehouse will have little support (i.e. meaning there won’t be a Microsoft Architect consultant on the project, etc); therefore the resource needs to be resourceful.
5. Healthcare experience is a BIG PLUS – because they are dealing with healthcare data and stakeholders that understand healthcare.
6. I will consider candidates with only 7 years of SQL related experience as long as they have all the skills listed above. Candidates really need to be self-sufficient and self-directed.
It is important that the candidate is currently living in California or once lived in California or is very familiar with California so they truly understand the higher cost of living in San Mateo County. The client will hire from a one-time Skype interview. I have to be certain non-local candidates are committed to relocating to San Mateo County. Keep in mind it takes the County about 3 weeks to onboard a consultant after confirmation.
Qualifications:
8 or more years of industry experience as a SQL data warehouse developer.
Experience in setting the vision/planning for an enterprise data warehouse project in addition to the technical building experience of an enterprise data warehouse.
Experience with all phases of “constructing” an enterprise data warehouse.
Must have experience in designing a data warehouse within a Microsoft Azure framework.
Strong relationship building, stakeholder requirements elicitation, communication and interpersonal skills; and proven track record in working with all levels of an organization’s technical and business departments.
Experience Design, implement, and maintain complex ETL solutions on-premise and in Azure.
Healthcare experience is required; Health Information Exchange (HIE) knowledge strongly preferred.
Strong experience designing and implementing data processing pipelines, data cleansing, standardization, data profiling, and enrichment processes to populate the data warehouse.
Experience with SQL Server Analytics and Integration Services and have a firm understanding of data warehousing layout.
Experience with Agile Framework and all phases of the SDLC.
Fluent in TSQL; also fluent C# and/or Python.
Experience using Microsoft Azure Data Lake, Data Factory, and Data Warehouse.
Strong SSIS development skills using SQL Server Data Tools and Visual Studio.
Ability to write and maintain reports using SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and Power BI.
Proficiently use SQL Server Management Studio 2016+.
Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skill, teamwork, and customer service skills.
Demonstrated ability to complete deliverables on time and within budget, working under minimal supervision. Ability to thrive working independent and within a team environment.
Bachelor’s degree is required.
