The Systems Engineer II can fall into one of three broad categories: (1) a customer-focused SE, (2) a technical specialist overlay SE or (3) hybrid SE—a combination of the two. The SE II is a customer-focused technical professional with direct technical accountability for a specific Technology and understanding of adjacent technologies. All SEs engage customers face-to-face or via collaborative tools and technology such as Skype, Video Conference, etc. Some SEs may be deployed in a pooled / shared capacity a portion of their time. The responsibilities, competencies and behaviors for dedicated and pooled / shared SEs remain largely the same.

Solution and Architectural
Develop an advanced understanding of the various types of architectures and how they’re interconnected
Ensure the features, benefits, and architectural impact of technology are understood and valued
Assist in developing the business cases for architectural solutions
Position the appropriate IT services for customers to consider when deploying a technology solution
Establish advanced knowledge in Wireless Networks and Networking Platform Design
Knowledge of Cisco wireless APs, WLCs, Prime Infrastructure, and MSE
Implementation of Cisco Wireless Controllers and
Perform wireless surveys using products like AirMagnet, Ekahau and Cisco Spectrum Expert.
Document recommendations and findings
Identify and troubleshoot hardware and software technical problems related to wireless
Participate in various client projects intended to continually improve/upgrade wireless infrastructures
Understand client39;s infrastructures, their needs and provide expertise and consulting on Cisco solutions
Troubleshoot, upgrade, and provide solutions to complex hardware/software problems
Perform problem remediation
Knowledge of 802.1x authentication
Knowledge of wireless encryption technologies
Locate and read the blueprint or floor plan(s)
Assist/Perform with network migrations

Required Skills:
5+ years experience with wireless site survey, network design, and implementation
Demonstrate knowledge of Voice Grade Wireless, Location Based Wireless and Data Grade Wireless standards
Familiarity with Ekahau, AirMagnet, Prime or other wireless surveying and monitoring solutions
Strong understanding of TCP/IP and ability to install and troubleshoot LANs and WANs
Experience designing network solutions given client requirements and goals
