Job Description:
The Circuit Provisioning Engineer- is responsible for ensuring the delivery of data and voice circuits to all domestic and international locations
This position works in collaboration with the team of voice, data and wireless engineers, Field Service Delivery (FSD) personnel and Carriers to accomplish all the tasks required for implementation of connectivity to the Wide Area Voice and Data Network
Responsibilities:
Working with cross functional teams within United such as, but not limited to, WAN Engineering, IT Provisioning, Network Operations, and Field Services personnel to determine site and circuit requirements at locations
Contributes to tactical telecommunications planning with respect to bandwidth, scalability and access and network diversity requirements
Obtain technical network requirements for ordering telecom vendor circuits
Coordinate access, surveys and other necessary dispatches as needed for carriers and their access providers
Plan for and coordinate carrier diversity at critical locations
Manage carrier delivery intervals and escalate accordingly
Schedules and manages the activities for the installation, test and turn up of circuits
Assists FSD and engineers with interpretation of site surveys to determine carrier DMARC for circuit extension and installation location of the companys equipment
Understands space, power and inside wiring requirements to coordinate DEMARC extensions within a building
Works with FSD and with site contacts as required to schedule dispatches and access to facilities for carrier installation team
Assists with obtaining COI (certificate of insurance) requirements with property management
Maintain and update order management and circuit inventory records in the designated tools
Understand network trends and best practices within the industry
Education / Certification:
Bachelor’s degree preferably in Information Technology or equivalent work experience
Knowledge/Skills:
5+ years’ experience in the IT network industry with at least 3 years circuit provisioning experience
Strong technical knowledge of MPLS, SIP, TDM, Ethernet, Broadband, Internet and Wave network technologies
Familiar with telecom vendor systems and portals used for ordering services
Background with Telecom Expense Management Systems
Good Business Acumen
Ability to work through conflict, meet project timelines and objectives as well as collaborate with other teams
Strong verbal and written skills
Demonstrated problem solving and creative thinking capabilities
Ability to align business requirements into technical requirements
Ability to utilize Microsoft tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
