Middleware System Administrator

NYC, NY

12+ months



Here’s what You’ll Do:



Administer – Support a wide variety of middleware components in a 24/7/365 high availability client environment. Primary responsibility is production support to include monitoring, troubleshooting and triage. Provide technical leadership across a variety of middleware components. Set technical direction for mid-tier environments



Analyze – Collect and review system data for capacity and planning purposes. Analyze capacity data and develop capacity plans for appropriate level enterprise-wide systems.



Collaborate – Work closely with team lead and peers to ensure tasks are clearly defined and deadlines are met.



Develop – Perform software installations and upgrades across development, test and production environments. Install, configure and maintain the WebSphere family of middleware infrastructure (WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Portal Server, WebSphere Process Server and WebSphere MQ Install patches associated with WebSphere upgrades and updates.



Generate – Develop and maintain appropriate system documentation.



Improve – Perform complex systems administration. Monitors and tunes appropriate systems to ensure an optimum level of performance. Oversee and apply appropriate support packages/patches to maintain system integrity.



Here’s what You’ll Bring to the Table:



Education



Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related technical field.
Twelve (12) or more years of experience working and leading middleware teams in a high-volume, mission critical environment.



Technology

Senior level experience in the WebSphere family of middleware infrastructure (WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Portal Server, WebSphere Process Server and WebSphere MQ
Extensive knowledge in implementing SSL across middleware tools.
Knowledge in OpenText, MuleSoft , Splunk (Optional UCD tools.
Scripting and Process Automation experience required
Experience with Ansible is preferred
Extensive knowledge of Java/J2EE methodology and frameworks
Extensive UNIX AIX or Linux and Scripting experience
Extensive SDLC experience with some development or Systems programming experience
Ability to analyze and trouble-shoot Mid-tier/infrastructure issues.
Experience in developing appropriate monitoring and alerting processes within the mid-tier environment
Experience developing custom operation scripts for day-to-day
Willingness to provide evening / weekend support coverage as necessary
Experience with Alfresco, ESG, IBM WTX, IBM Datastage beneficial
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to interact with team and client staff in a stressful work environment.
Prior lead experience would be considered as an advantage
