Overview
In the Department of Information Services, the HPC Storage Architect plays a critical role in supporting the research lifecycle which in return supports clinical outcomes. This is an exciting opportunity to work across various departments at St. Jude allowing world class researchers provide treatment to patients. The position will provide HPC data storage support for some exciting areas at St. Jude including our proton beam and our Pediatric Genome project.
Successful candidates must be self-starters with exceptional attention to detail skills and the ability to solve problems. Your ability to remain calm in stressful situations is essential as is excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.  If the idea of providing technical support for finding cures of pediatric illnesses interest you, this is the ideal position for you.

Responsibilities

Responsible for technical architecture and operation of HPC data storage and associated data protection provided by Information Services (IS), including design, policy and procedures, monitoring, auditing, and reporting
Serves as a technical advisor for HPC data storage technology, and provides support to IS leadership for priority setting, resource utilization, continuous performance improvement, overall technical guidance, and strategic planning within the HPC data storage infrastructure portfolio
Works collaboratively with process owners, departmental leadership and IS staff to promote the effective use of storage technology and to maximize the value received from technology investments
Requires the ability to effectively communicate with peers and senior leadership, and
Accepts on-call assignments providing 24 x7 coverage

Minimum Education

Bachelor''s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field is required
Master''s degree is preferred

Minimum Experience

Eight (8) years of information technology experience and progressive responsibility is required
Four (4) years of experience is acceptable with a Master’s degree
Experience supporting a HPC data storage and backup infrastructure is required
Experience must include implementation, management and support of enterprise level data storage and data protection, extensive experience with current enterprise NAS, SAN and data protection technologies, and disaster recovery planning and implementation for storage systems
Experience with clustered file systems and HPC clusters is required
Experience with Red Hat Linux is required
Experience with GPFS or related large filing system is required
