The Data Modeler’s role is to create an Enterprise Data Model for all NYCERS databases and maintain metadata repository of its components. This is essential to establishing the entire universe of Critical Data Elements currently in use and understanding the nature and purpose of each for the data profiling and migration exercise. NYCERS IT will leverage the Data Model and Source-to-Target mappings in automated processes that retrieve the data and prepare it for Legacy Replacement initiative and other mission critical applications.

1. Mandatory Skills: Candidates must meet all the requirements below to be considered for this position:
Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, writing, analytical, problem solving, and information gathering skills along with fundamental technique troubleshooting abilities.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in designing data models of various complexity to meet strict requirements of the Retirement system.
Experience in data modeling principles/methods including conceptual, logical & physical data models.
Proven experience creating optimal physical data models of datasets, creating and maintaining data maps and systems interrelationship diagrams for data domains and systems.
Experience defining and governing data modeling and design standards, tools, best practices, and related development methodologies for the organization.
Ability to clearly communicate complex technical ideas, regardless of the technical capacity of the audience.
Ability to utilize Business Intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI) to represent data profiling insights.
Experience working with dimensionally modeled data.
Experience in• translating/mapping relational data models into XML and Schemas

2. Preferred Experience:
Experience with legacy• and unstructured data.
Ability to quickly learn and adapt modeling methods• from case studies or other proven approaches.
Experience extracting business rules from the• existing legacy code.
Experience with Data Analysis and Modeling tools• (e.g. RAA, ERWin, ER/Studio, Data Architect, etc
Strong SQL knowledge working with complex queries• and stored procedures.
RDBMS• platforms (e.g. SQL Server, DB2 LUW)
